Pulled into Fairplay on the 4th and saw an honor guard type with a sign in the back of his truck advertising a parade and that line up was at 11:30. Stopped and mentioned that I heard the parade was cancelled and he fired back with “how do you cancel Independence Day?”. Long story short, a group of locals decided to do their own parade. They graciously gave us some flags, streamers, balloons, and tape to doll up my truck and a couple of handfuls of candy to throw as well.

Ended up being about one of ten or so vehicles following the honor guard down their main street while my daughter threw candy from the back seat. The town folk seemed excited and supportive even though no sirens from first responder vehicles which were obviously absent. Proves Covid doesn’t dampen all spirits. An impromptu stop ended up making for quite a memorable time .

I have had these plow discs for years, I got them to make Discada cookers. Finally got around to it.

The rancher I got them from had cut the centers out to repair other discs, the hardest part was filling tho holes.

Ended up making two, they still need a lot of grinding and sanding before they can be used.

    The end of an era.

Bittersweet time as an old friend and trusted companion leaves the shop for greener pastures. Our faithful little blue shop truck has found a new home with a new owner.

We just haven't made the time to get out and enjoy it like we should. Hopefully it will now get used and abused on the regular, just as it was built to do.

Here they are all loaded up and heading off. Wishing the new owner nothing but the absolute best! This one will be sorely missed.

I continue to be a one man wrecking crew. Not only did I blow up the new to me Ford over the weekend, but started on another home demo project the last two evenings. Brick wall is coming down so I can get to all the water damage and then extend the flat roof deck out so there is a proper overhang. Replacing it and the stucco I already removed with Hardie board siding. This will hopefully make the wall of windows and the new metal railing of the flat roof deck more of a focal point instead of the deck being hidden and the brick overpowering the windows. Still have some clean up and brick stacking to do tonight. But things are finally moving along in a noticeable fashion.

Tomorrow I should be able to start on the east wall of brick and remove the parts of that I want gone. If my back holds up. It has not been happy with me after chucking bricks over my shoulder while on a ladder for an evening. Today was better as I was on the ground, but spend a bunch of time bending over picking up bricks. Did you know they are heavy? Lol, good times.

OOF - and from viewing my prior response - don't sign me up for brickwork.

How'd the truck get "blowd up"?

Got a little more demo completed this morning before the sun reared it's ugly head. Took the knee wall and associated goodies down. Lots of water damage to the whole area.

Really opens up the balcony and makes that area look and feel larger. Will look HUGE once the extension is completed even though it will only be about a 24" overhang total. But it does add over 80 square feet to the area of the balcony/flat roof deck. Should be a very nice looking and usable space.
