Default New to wheeling, 4x4's & fun

    Hi All

My name is Rob Gonzalez, my Fiance Diamond and my two kiddos Lucius & Alanna have got us a 4x4 and would like to start exploring planet earth. I work at a phone store in aurora where i met Transplant87 a while ago. ive been in to street & drift racing for most of my life but now that my family is getting bigger/older i need to grow up and take up a new less illegal more family friendly hobby. so i bought a jeep.

anyways, i grew up in Florida & Michigan i Know very little about 4x4's other than there fun to go mudding in. i know nothing about rock climbing but i want to learn and start getting outside more often. i would LOVE to go out every weekend but i dont think you guys do stuff that often. that dosent mean that i won't =)

    So about our rig:
    1992 Jeep Cherokee 4x4
    4.0 inline 6
33's with a 4" skyjacker lift & full size spare
    Roof cage
    rear Body armor
4.88 gears / no front locker / rear autolocker
    rock sliders
Custom front bumper with winch mount & dual D rings
a lot more but like i said i dont know much about what i have, we just got it last week.

P.S. unless i can find something better to do Sunday, We will be going to C.O.R.E in deer trail if anyone wants to go or has something better going on on Sunday and wants to invite us we would love to go.

Now No introduction post would be legit without pic's so here ya go:

If anyone notices any mod's that i have that are not listed please let me know, i dont understand what most of this crap is anyways...

Welcome to Front Range Rob, nice intro complete with pics!m

You've come to the right group that's always happy to introduce someone to the world of rocks and which is good because as you know there's not much mud to be found around here and 4x4's don't drift very well!

Welcome! Fantastic intro. Like Chris said, "you came to the right place". The guys here will teach you everything you need to know (and probably a bunch of stuff you don't need to know)

How old are your kids? I have an 8 yr old girl I often bring along. Lots of us bring our kids (and dogs).

    Welcome!

As for getting out every weekend - just post up a run of where you're looking to go and you'd likely get at least one, perhaps 15, others looking to join in - a good group almost every weekend.

    thanks guys!

we went out for a night cruise this evening, went to idaho springs and then up oh my god road to some pull off and ran that for a ways in to a snow trail that ended me out some over look where im pretty sure i saw the central city parkway.

As for the gulches im down for any of them, any weekend. i havent decided where im gonna go yet, i think im gonna cut core out tho, im not in the mood for mudding. i would like to possably check out devils canyon or Rusell gulch or somthing kinda close to idaho springs this weekend im not sure yet, i'll figure it out tomorrow.

As for my kids, there still very young. Lucius is 2 and Alanna is 1

i found out from a guy at the gas station who was admireing my truck that i also have Quick Disconnect swaybar ends i guess. he said they were a good thing to have

Welcome to FR. The quick disconnects are good, the sway bar limits how much articulation the axle can have. In other words, how far the wheels can travel up & down. So when you are going over rough terrain you disconnect, allowing better tire to ground contact for better traction. On the hiway the sway bar helps keep the body from rolling too much. You probably know this stuff from drifting suspension already. But if you have questions, just ask. someone will be glad to help.
