This area is on my 2013 list and I'm happy to see such an extensive road system on the North side. This guy drives great, sounds like he has a supercharger to me.

This looks like fun. Don't have a baja setup though haha.
sand isnt to bad its all i used to do, it will tell you right quick if u have a u joint going out or something like that though, spray the hell out of the undercarraige when done though to make sure the sand done eat away at any rubber that kindof thing, cv joints will hate you if u dont.
check out how well the 80 series landcruiser does at about 3:40
I'd like to do the Sand Dunes! Britton would enjoy it on his dirt bike and I would love to take my kid out there on an ATV. I'll have to see if there is a rental place nearby for that! WOOT! I can't wait for Winter to be OVER! (And it hasn't even started yet).

Awesome Jackie!! I'm thinking about the summer, and I want to combine it with the yurts www.neversummernordic.com and trails in State Forest State Park.
Also in the area are the ghost towns of Teller City and Park City...

Sure, Jim! they're just south of the park enterance, close to all of it. If you have the Wells 3rd Edition Northern Colorado book it's trail # 13, Baker Pass. From the same book trail #12 is a road right through State Forest State Park that the Montgomery Pass Yurt is on. there are atleast 4 good 4x4 roads in the park that aren't in the Wells book, and there is all sorts of camping, hiking, fishing, stuff like that in the park. I figured on posting a day for a run at the Sand Dunes and getting a yurt for two or three days around it. I'm not sure what the best time of year is for it, I guess it will depend on snowpack this winter.
thinking like a holiday weekend or something like that better chance for people to be off
Would these still be fun in the winter? I think a day trip on the weekend would be fun.
I would think so but that's pretty far for a day trip imo. maybe get a room in Walden overnight???
Me and Matt Igli have been wanted to go here for awhile and would love to plan a trip for the up coming season
