A tip I learned from the group (Perhaps Peter Brody posted it) was to carry some spare hose clamps. A good way to carry them is to wrap them around some of the hoses (mid-hose, not too tight, out of the way, always ready).
Your comment on the belt tickled my brain on this: Just before the Moon Gulch trip I secured spare belts and radiator hoses (the old units, pulled when I installed new hoses & belts) to the underside of the seats, using zip-ties. They're always in the vehicle and are out of the way - but yet easy enough to get to should a spare be needed.
