    Default Entirely too fast

As you may or may not remember I was having engine problems with my 4Runner. Turned out the #4 intake valve was hanging. So that combine with a bad #2 valve seal and lose wrist pins lead me to do a full rebuild. Well today I started work at 1pm. By 5pm I had the engine out of my 4Runner. It's actually depressing how fast I am at pulling this stupid motor. This had better be the last time for for a VERY LONG time.

On the bright side I should be getting my short block back from the machinist mon. or tues. So if everything goes well maybe by next weekend my truck will be running and ready to go. Here's hoping!

Good luck Jon, it's a shame to have to spend time during wheeling season doing that again.

Too bad you couldn't just upgrade to a 2.7L while you were at it. That is my hope someday for the Custom Cab. Too much truck for the 22re.

More power would be nice. But upgrading just wasn't in the budget. And while the 22RE is underpowered, I love the simplicity and the general reliability of the motor. Also I have a hard time getting rid of an engine I know so well. If something breaks while out in the back country there isn't much I don't know how to fix.

Speaking of your new Toy, I have always though a cool wheeling rig would be to take one of those custom cabs, cut the bed and put it on a standard cab frame. would leave enough bed to keep the dirty stuff outside while plenty of cab space for soft stuff and sleeping.

Thanks for the wishes! I did get the block back from the machinist today. I'll be painting tomorrow and then assembly to follow. I'll see if I can't snap a few pics and start a build thread.

I had actually thought about putting this on an Xtra Cab frame. I had looked at just a bare cab at Jim's for $500. He had a couple. In the end, the cost and work would be quite a bit. I also wanted to use my 6' utility topper. The 22re is a dog in this truck, but at some point a 2.7 would help that. Cost and time right now are the factors, so I completely understand your choice.
