Thread: Hope this works!

    Default Hope this works!

Well, I been dreading doing the transmission and would cost quite a bit to have it rebuilt. I have been doing some digging and it seems like a lot of my symptoms I have occured can be caused by the hydraulic system either between the slave or master cylinder. Well...This is the cheapest route, with all brand new parts its cheaper then rebuild and would prolly make it work like normal again!! luckily.

    Parts I bought:

    Flywheel
    Clutch kit
    Clutch slave cylinder
    Oil pan gasket set
    Rear Main seal
    Clutch Master Cylinder
    New oil, oil filter

Hopefully this will all get done this weekend! I'll take as many pictures as possible.

You are going to have a loooooooooooooooooong weekend! Don't forget Mother's day.

Last weekend, I replaced the clutch for Bronc 17113. I couldn't get the flywheel out in time to have it resurfaced, so I went to O'Riley and bought a new one. When we got his truck together, started up, it shrieked like a Banshee and spit sparks out the bell housing.

The new flywheel is the prime suspect. I'll have it off the truck tomorrow night. If I can get it returned Friday night, I'll have the old clutch in to CarQuest early Saturday for resurfacing.

Where are you doing all this work?

Mike, go talk to Bill @ Mountain High Performance. I believe he charged me $25 or $30 dollars last time and he always does nice work. He's not to far from the house. 52nd and Ward to the west of ATS diesel. The number to his shop is 303-420-6218.

Thanks for the tip Jon! I'll have to give him a hollar.

I hope so too! After some careful checking with a straight edge and digital caliper, I found the flywheel was machined wrong, the side toward the engine sits too close to the block. The shrieking and sparks were made by the flywheel hitting the starter.

I'm putting words in his mouth. When I called, he said "I'm closed today."

Coincidently, both the Carquest stores who say they can do the work, don't have anyone to reface the flywheel today. I'm trying the store on Old Wadsworth next.

If nothing else, drop it off in front of the door with your name, number and what needs done written on it and on Monday he'll give you a call saying it's done. I've done that a time or two.

It's all back together now. The back side of the flywheel at Advance, measured within .001" of the factory unit.

Maybe by the afternoon,my Mrs will get bored with me and send me back to the workshop. Once the fluids get topped and the clutch gets bled, I can take it off the stands.

This truck went home tonight, flywheel still rubs.

I did not see what was in front of me. When I took the original off, there was damage to the block plate caused by the old flywheel rubbing. My landlord looked at it and told me the crankshaft was walking, because the crankshaft thrust bearing was worn out. He blames it on driver habit, sitting at a stop with the clutch pushed in.

Cody, I hope your weekend went better.
