Ironclads & Miller Rock - 5 May 2012

A great day for wheeling! A bit cloudy, but great weather overall.

Highlights

• Jim having a mechanical.
• Frank being the only one to attempt and complete the Miller Rock obstacle on the way to the stream.
• Great views at the top of Miller Rock, and the lunch at the base of it.

Oh. My. God. The SPUR. That particular part in the spur. Frank, you look like you're set up to make it look easy in that last pic on Max's post above.

It was a good day! Not so good for Jim's fuel supply though. He pretty much coasted to Lyon and arranged a tow from there and Barb & I got him home. Frank did great on the obstacle, I opted to pass as did everyone else.

Nice to do the trail without snow but I didn't take any pics, hoping Rob has some to share!

I'm sorry, I downplayed Jim's situation. He had fuel problems, and he decided to park and ride along for Miller Rock.

I meant to say the obstacle on Miller Rock. I believe this is the part from TrailDamage:

"Return to the big crossroads and take forest service road 252 farther southeast to get to the big obstacles on the southeast arm. The Rock Hill is fairly steep and it will tip your vehicle out over the edge of the narrow trail. Stock SUVs should not try this section, and you should not be on these obstacles alone.

The trail continues downhill and you find yourself at the bottom of the hill at St. Vrain Creek. It can have quite a bit of water in it in the spring. The trail crosses the creek to the other side where there is plenty of room to turn around."

That obstacle on Miller Rock is fun but can be scary. We had named it Twist and Shout because that's what Heather did coming up it last year.
