    Worth a re post, especially with some folks just getting into welding.Save yourself a headache, so to speak, and do not use brake cleaner, carb cleaner or similar sprays to clean the metal with. Anti Spatter sprays are designed for this and are available at any welding supply shop. The last I got was actually a green product and worked well.

    It usually kills you, so you probably won't have headache worries too long..:

    I got posted here years ago and keeps reemerging. Looks like it does the same thing on other forums, too, which is a good thing.

    Personally, I have never cleaned my metal off in this manner, not even when I was welding back on the farm, or on various construction sites.
