    Default Tablet Users?

I don't have experience specific to the tablet, but am on my second Toshiba laptop (the first we only replaced because it was so old I was getting worried - and a friend has the old one and still uses it two+ years later) and absolutely LOVE the brand.

Brand seems to be a late entry in to tablets, but the same was said on several reviews about their netbooks, and they seem to learn from others mistakes.

I just got rid of a vizio vtab, bought it to see if id really use a tablet. Bought the Samsung galaxy 10.1 today and am on that right now. The performance difference is amazing. This Samsung is least twice as fast. The Toshiba you are looking at has similar hardware specs, the biggest difference being the display and no gps. That's what probably makes up the $100 price difference. So far i love this thing, been playing on it all day.

So, my son has the iPad and my wife and I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab (7" version). If I were to choose form factors, I'd go with the 7". Why, you can take it anywhere. The 10"ers are something you sit on the couch with. The 7"ers go on the trail with you, go to the game with you, go everywhere. They're too big to be phones, but they will fit in your pocket if you don't wear tight pants

    My 2 cents.

I'm a iPad user, does everything I need and while it won't fit in my pocket I can hit the right button instead of taking 3 tries on smaller devices.

No, but I do have one of the early versions of these. It's pretty novel, it makes phone calls!

Actually Chris, I use my phone for just that phone calls, I don't surf the web on it and I can't stand texting either. If I want to do any of that, it can wait until I get home. I have a flip style, close to what you posted.

Samsung has GPS built in. My home internet is thru qwest. But this thing has been smoking fast on every wireless I've been on, even at the hospital waiting for my wife today

I've installed back country navigator pro and it gets a 10m lock right away. That software is a lot easier to use on a large form factor like this too. Gonna try it out on the trail this weekend somewhere, but see no issues since it gets a good lock in town. The Samsung mobile units use a true GPS chip rather than an assisted GPS like the apple products

See. That is why I am considering that instead. Cost difference is negligible.

I have a very sophisticated iPad mount Brad, costs maybe 25¢. It's a mini-bungee cord strung from my vents, very effective!

I'm rockin the Windows 7 based Acer Iconia W500_BZ467.

I bought it new at the windows store in park meadows so that I could skype with my parents (they live in Hawaii) and launch my empire (just scratching the surface on that...lol). It came with a keyboard docking station (doubles as the cover), SD card slot, hdmi port, usb's, 3 year warranty (no questions asked), bluetooth mouse (microsoft), Microsoft Office Suite & an Xbox 360

It works great on any wifi and I have found the best addition to be a $12 stylus that I bought at wally world. I don't think it will ever replace my Toshiba Satellite laptop (I love it), but it does have a front and rear webcam & that has none. I can pick up my itunes library via home sharing and don't have to clog up my tablet with music which is nice. Additionally, I can plug my iphone into this without buying 20 different cables.

The keyboard/cover is probably the cheapest made component & the tablet weighs more than it so it can easily flip over but it has it's time and place when you get sick of type tapping. This tablet does also have handwriting recognition but I was easily frustrated with it granted I didn't give it much time.

???? your kidding I asume? How much did you pay for the package?

  19. #19

Not kidding. Student Package that was $650 total out the door. The tablet was selling for $550 by itself but they were running a promotion where if you bought any laptop/tablet bundle totaling $650 they threw in the Xbox. With the office software, mouse & 3 year warranty it was eligible.

I had worked my butt off for 3 years online (in addition to my regular job) to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a bs in business. So, this was my present to myself.
