Default Barbour Forks and Devils Canyon Clean-up

Barbour Forks and Devils Canyon Clean-up runs! Sunday September 18th

Meet at the Ranger Station in Idaho Springs at 9 am.
    101 W Chicago Creek Rd
    Idaho Springs, CO 80452

    CB channel: 4

    Barbour Forks link: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=290
    Devils Canyon link: http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=291

This is our 2nd clean up run for 2011. Frontrange 4x4 maintains these 2 trails for the Forest Service as volunteers. It is a great way for all of our members to get to know one another. We will be picking up trash and performing general trail maintenance to BOTH trails. Please be ready at 9 am at the Rangers Station to Sign waivers and get general instrustions from a Forest Service employee. After the Briefing, we will split into 2 even groups, 1 for Barbour Forks, and 1 for Devils Canyon. Depending on attendance, we have had enough time for members to complete their clean up and run the 2nd trail.

Please bring: Water, food, gloves, boots, appropriate apparel, sun screen, trash bags, and friends to help out. Please be prepared for anything, a list of reccommended equipment is available here: http://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?179-Newbie

As of right now, My plan is to Camp Staurday night with a group of friends on the Barbour Fork trail. There is lots of room and there are some great spots to camp. Anyone and Everyone is invited to stay with us.

We really need to get some more people signed up for this run. In the past we have had 20+ volunteers. Would a Saturday run generate more interest?

Adam is right. Come on all. We need to get some folk signed up for this. It's less than two weeks away now.

If my rig has all the bugs worked out and if I have extra money for gas, and if I am not going to get a BS ticket for not having some dipshit sticker on my rig, and if I don't have work to do, then I may be able to go. Right now, work takes precedence over anything else.

Way too far away for me to be able to plan anything at all.

No dip**** sticker issues says Brant from the forest service. He said that they read the rules in their district as only being needed on OHVs (i.e. non-registered vehicles).

Come on all. We need way more people!

Good to know. Like to see that in writing, though...

This is in an email I got from Brant...

"As far registration is concerned on this district of the Arapaho Roosevelt NF, if you have a license plate that is current, you do not need an OHV sticker. If you trailer your OHV vehicle(Car, Truck, ATV, Dirt Bike, or any other wheels with motors and you don't have a plate) then you need an OHV registration. Bottom line is you must have registration to operate a motor vehicle on NF, license plate or OHV is currently acceptable. The rules also state that the registration must be displayed, so not on your table at home or stuffed into your glove box. I get a lot of people who don't want to put OHV stickers on their machines even though they have them legally registered. Unfortunately, you must have tabs on your plates or OHV sticker on your ATV, Dirt Bike etc.

I can't speak for other districts/National Forests/Parks(national or State) but that is how my rule book reads to me. Hope this answers your question.Let me know if I created any confusion."

Can I get a second volunteer to help with this? We had one but they've gone dark. I don't remember which trail sunk signed up for but they are both easy trails.

You work with Adam to make this thing a success. There will be a safety meeting which is usually put on by the forest service but since this is a Sunday thing, it's just us. Then there will be some sign up forms, split up into two groups and then you will lead one of the trails. Sound good?

After five consecutive cleanup runs, I'm still a maybe for a sixth. Sunday might be problematic for me.

Alright everyone, we have 200+ members and 7 people confirmed to do the second of our twice a year "give back" runs. Let's show the non-wheeling world that we are not just beer drinking gun toting rednecks. Lets get some people on this run!

We go through this on most clean up runs, IIRC. I hate begging for help for the trail THIS CLUB sponsors.
