    Default FR4x4 Get Together, Maybe?

I'm very excited. We close tomorrow on a 2.5 acre piece of land at the top of Indian Mountain near Jefferson and Tarryall. It's currently unimproved land but we're going to work really hard to get a driveway on it over the next few weeks. It has great views and at least a couple of good places to put a cabin (sometime in the next decade hopefully). We'll be leaving the camper up there for the summers and storing it for the winters.

So, if I can get a bunch of work done up there installing a driveway and adding a couple of fire pits, I plan on having a FR4x4 camping trip for all who want to come. We could do China Wall or take the hike into BV to Hancock, Tincup, Antero, etc.

Don't know if it will be this year. We'll see how far we get with the "improvements". If not, we'll definitely do it next year.

Yeah. We're pretty excited. The land has a lot of Aspen. I wanted to get a picture of the view (which goes for about 180 degrees in places) which means it's in the cleared area with smaller trees. There are much larger trees to the left and right of the picture I took. And deadfall. Lots of deadfall!

Down the hill I know there is some land owned by some fishing club on the river. But yeah. My son, while Anna and I were in Helsinki, caught a 16" Rainbow in Jefferson Lake... and cleaned it and ate it.

Mind telling us how much you are paying? I have thought about something like this in the future. I like the idea of just improved land with camping area temporarily.

He was asking 25K. We talked him down to 22 but due to some other issues, we're only paying 20K.

The exact deal I am looking for but a little closer to Denver. I want to get around 10 acres. Want some SPACE.

I am more than willing to help clear land in exchange for some camping weekends on the land until you build your cabin.

Sounds like fun! Congrats on the purchase. We have been playing with that idea as well. (But we want a house on it - not just a cabin). Either way... YOU'VE GOT SPACE!!!

I call what we want a cabin but we're looking at log homes. This is where we want to retire when the time comes.

That might be a plan... If it is, it is a couple of weeks out as we have an anniversary trip planned. She's dealt with me for 15 years. She deserves something

my wife and I have been looking at property, including some old mining claims as a possible cabin site, and from what I've seen it looks like you got a good deal in a nice area. Awesome!!

Amen to that! Get out of the city/burbs and into the mountains. I hope that happens for us too.

    Nice!

You aren't too far from where I was working building the 10,000sf, 8 million dollar "log cabin" when I was working in Jefferson.

The get together sounds like a good idea. Better yet is to take the suggestion for a 'camping, work, get together ' and run with that. Lots of people here would help. Sounds like you have a lot of clearing and deadfall issues to take care of first off, so what better way to do it than with a bunch of 4x4s with winches....

this is just a thought but if you do have a lot of dead fall trees and stuff then a get together for clearing it would be good since 1. ppl can take wood home if they want and 2. really big fires are a good use of wood
