Thinking about my first Jeep mod... yes? No? Ideas

My Jeep Rubicon has proved itself to be everything I need for the trails I want to ride so far. It came with some nice Rubi rock rails that have proved themselves several times over the past couple years. The only thing I think I'm missing is side steps. I know I can buy the new Rubi rails that have steps attached, but they are a bit pricey. I was hoping maybe some of you fab guys would have the skills to work with the ones I have. (Obviously for a price). But I don't want to run the risk of paying someone to weld on a tube and then have it break on the next rock I fall off of. . All suggestions are appreciated! Can this be done???. Will it affect my warranty?

No warranty worries as this doesn't really modify the vehicle.

IMHO, unless you can weld these yourself you may just want to consider some bolt on rock rails and sell your Rubi rails on craigslist/ebay/whatever.

I'm sure the FR4x4 fab guys will chime in with other options.

I'm not mechanical at all - so I will need to pay for whatever I decide to do. But I was thinking that the original Rubi rails are so expensive to begin with, I'd rather modify what I already have. I've done a lot of searching, but haven't come up with an option other than replacing them with the new rails w/steps. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone here has the answer. I'll take a huge loss if I sell my current rails and buy new ones. I really just want steps added to make it easier for my kid to get in and also to add a place for you guys on this forum to jump on to save me from a flop!!!

Not much. Is it attached to the frame? If so, Pete might be able to extend it out a few inches

Yeah - I think it's attached to the frame. So I would think that it would be a "weld on" job. But I don't know. I don't see any holes in it where you could bolt something on. I might be dreaming the impossible - but thought I'd ask.
