Right on man! I really like the LED upgrade!
Right on man! I really like the LED upgrade!
After switching to the older style block, A few changes had to be made in the coolant system. And because of hose routing and some of the heater pipes being to rusted to use, I deleted about 5 hard pipes, and a significant number of hoses. The only draw back now, is the return from the main heater, is ran into the rear heater, so in order for it to function the rear heater must be left on the hottest setting to allow coolant to flow. I figure its not to big of an or deal, because if its cold enough to be running the heater there is no reason the rear one shouldn't be on, granted its not like the rear heaters in FJ60s pump out that much heat anyways.
As far as the temp sender, and heater core feed line, I ended up using some brass fittings from ace, over the OEM set up, as it eliminates some hard piping, and allows for better hose routing. I also swapped the location of the 2 ports, as it works better for vacuum lines. I don't believe i will see much change in the Temp readings despite the swap.
Another Issue i ran into is with no OEM oil coolers(water cooled) to be found, I had to make a few changes to my thermostat housing, as well as run a "older" style water pump. If you look at the pics of the 2 water pumps, you can tell the older style as it only has 2 inlets/outlets vs the newer style with 3. I ended up adding a large after market oil cooler that increases my capacity almost 1.25 quarts, however it is a simple air cooled system.
Heres a few updated pictures and hopefully she'll be up and running by this weekend for break in.
However, still working on a solution to the power steering issue.

It is going to a cruiser lover at least. Here is his other FJ60. He's also got a 40, and towing it off with a 60. Makes me feel much better about my loss.
At least he is a gearhead !!
Hope he is not cutting it up ..
