Did some test fitting yesterday on the antenna, and made a bracket while i was at work today. came home the bracket matched layout perfect but for some reason looked like ****. So i am off to the store to get some material because naturally i got laid off today, and am no longer in a fab shop =(. I have it all set in place now, with some trusty 11R's, so hopefully it stays put while i am at the store picking some stuff up. Oh i also installed my new digital antenna for my stereo today. Id post a pic of it,but i just released i haven't taken one yet. But heres some of the CB Antenna in its new home.

Looks good Chris but if you wheel like I do it won't last very long. I just put a flexible rubber one on for my radio, probably 4th antenna.

thats what i am afraid of, i am hoping the spring will help some, but idk. This is my first attempt at ever setting up a CB in any rig. I'm afraid its a little to tall, but i just followed the general guild lines i read on them on the internet. So hopefully it'll last a while. I had to fabricate a mount for the mount, which kind sucked, and now i have to go to "school"(my apprenticeship school) to use the tig welder because i need to gusset my homemade mount. This kinda is turning into a way bigger project than expected.

Let me know when you do something within the time you expect, it's never happened to me.

my radio antenae is in that same spot, but has a good spring on it. I hit it probably 10 times every run, but the spring saves it. I had a CB antenae mounted on the other side for a while, but it broke off. I didnt put it back because I found that it annoyed me when wheeling in the snow. I like to wheel with my window down, and it would knock all the snow off the trees right onto my head.

So here is my stereo antenna, way less of a pain in the ass than my CB antenna. Oh and i went the easy way and drilled and tapped things instead of TIG welding a custom mount. Forgot the antenna was there and pulled into a drive through and bent the mount. So the antenna is leaned back really far now but still works great. I'll be TIG welding a new bracket when i go to school in a month.

If you look close you can kinda see it it. right above the mirror.

Well about all i got accomplished today was the assembly and test fit, so i could see what i need to do mount it in place. The test fit looks good, and it seems like my worry about not matching the interior was for nothing. Its looking pretty good. I'm just bitting the bullet and going to school tomorrow, and going to fab up the mounting plate, and new bracket for the CB Antenna there. Also i have to grind out a little bit in the stereo slot to get my CB to fit in it properly,(1/32 shy on width and 1/16th on height) Heres some pictures of the test fit. And the best thing is....BIG GULP clearance in the front

Finished everything up today. Turned out pretty good, and Katey is real happy with it, so thats what matters. Heres the pics of the mounting system, and how everything turned out.

thats why i just have a hand held cb . No antennas to break. Thats the one thing i like about the older chevyies is that the radio antenna is in the windshield . Nothpng to break. Looking good Chris. Cant waitto see it inperson.

Looks good, Chris. Would a console like that work in an open 40? Would that cover keep the rain off the CB?

The actually sell one designed like that for the 40. And they claim that if you have the lids shut that its water tight. It was kinda pricey for my tastes, but i feel a lot better about leaving things in my console now.

Well because of my habit of ripping on the exhaust, i am in the process of figuring out how i am gonna run it. The new cat came in today, and is 8 miles long =( and the mufflers i have been finding aren't to short, so i am starting to see why this exhaust system sucks so bad.

Does yours have the goofy pipe going under the frame like the 62's?

You should take a look at mine, very nicely tucked away.

It had it going under the frame in one section, but thats all been ripped off now So i am gonna try and run it up closer to the flow and keep it tucked above the frame. I'm probably gonna use a low profile muffler and call it good for now. If i see you soon, it'd be awesome if i could take a look.
