I spy something else interesting near that gas station:

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

If we go from Maze overlook south to the Hite crossing without stopping in Hanksville I expect to run out of gas. We'll definitely have to discuss before we go 80 miles the other direction.

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

That's a strong possibility for me. I'd like to see that southern route sometime, and there are few better times than when I'm already out that way.

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

It's going to be a bit toasty out there until Saturday. Looks like a cool front moves in Friday with some wind, then better temperatures Sat/Sun. I hope it's a bit cooler than forecast Wed - Fri. ...

    Re: BJs Rescue and Recovery.

We would have been better off with a team of mules or draft horses getting your rig out!

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

Copy. 6pm Wednesday in Hanksville. Hanksville isn't very big, so hopefully we find each other easily enough. Matt, I'd like to find you when/before I fill up my spare fuel can so I can stash it in...

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

No, not planning on John Brown Canyon and onion creek. That was if we were going to camp near Moab or Monticello on first night. The drive to Hanksville is long enough for me for one day just by...

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

What time should we aim to meet on the 5th? Suggestions for a meetup location?

I'm anxious to get on the road. Installed my fridge slide tray Thursday night and finishing my planning & packing...

Re: HELP NEEDED: stuck on trail

The only time I see Jim happier than when he gets to use his winch is when he gets to use his chainsaw. I imagine he had a good night last night despite not getting to bed at his normal time.
  10. Re: Buena Vista - Fourmile trails Saturday 5/1

I'm not available for a run here on the 8th either. However, if you need to cancel or reschedule because your rig isn't available, it doesn't seem that it matters what I can do. I'm fine not...

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

We have to pack everything in and out, including human waste. It's worth spending a few minutes considering the mechanics of that now. I prefer long sleeves and pants (lightweight) to sunscreen if...
  12. Re: Buena Vista - Fourmile trails Saturday 5/1

Sure, that's a good location. And the rest of us (Tom, Shane and me) are coming from roughly the Boulder area. Both the slightly later time of 10:50 and meeting on the trail will make my morning...
  13. Re: Buena Vista - Fourmile trails Saturday 5/1

Planning to join but prefer to not drive all the way into BV to meet up if we could meet on the trail or at a trailhead instead.

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

It looks like most of the land around Hanksville is BLM land until you get into the Robber's Roost area east of town. Presumably a lot of options for camping there, though the maps I have don't...

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

The only discussion is what is above. I'd like to make a plan before the weekend so I know if I have to figure out camping on my own for Wednesday evening or if I am meeting either of you along the...

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

I was going to post Paul's video but he beat me to it. The route is pretty straight forward since there are few connecting roads along the way

Re: Canyonlands Maze District (May 6,7,8,9)

Jim, have you run up John Brown Canyon => Onion creek to Moab before? If you have the time and are up for it, we could head out to Grand Junction / Gateway together and then to the LaSalle national...
  18. Poll: Re: Feeler: Engineer Pass from Lake City into Ouray July 25th.

Imogene was closed when I visited last year, so I didn't get to run it. I ran Poughkeepsie. It was fun.

  19. Re: Canyonlands Maze District planning for spring

I'm a little unclear on where we left this. I'm not really interested in Goblin Valley State Park for camping, but I need to stay somewhere nearby close enough to meet up on Thursday morning if...
  20. Poll: Re: Feeler: Engineer Pass from Lake City into Ouray July 25th.

Low simmer on interest. I'd like to get back down that way for several days. Engineer pass isn't high on my list, but there are lots of trails in the area that are on the list.
  21. Re: FS (FoCo): Tuffy security enclosure, 4:10 gears, possible har

I tried to sell my TJ/LJ instatrunk (besttop version) recently and had zero interest for far lower asking price. Mine's still in my garage. Good luck. Send any interested TJ/LJ buyers my way :-)

    Re: 58 Willys Wagon

I need to be able to oar the rig through solid whitewater, and the last time I really carried that thing around, I think I tweaked my back so, it stays on the bench taking up space until we get back....

    Re: 2011 AMG G55 Build

I think Shane owns the entire Milwaukee catalog of tools. He's a pretty good rolling advertisement for them when he loads out his truck full of red Milwaukee cases and tools.

    Welcome!

The two anniversary runs are pretty much the only times we just loop a few obstacles usually. Looking forward to China Wall in June.
