  1. I Scoured The Web For Thousands of Interesting Places in Colorado

I gathered locations for ~3,000 interesting places in Colorado, and plotted them all on a map.

    Bunce 2-28-2020

Got out this afternoon and ran Bunce. These are the logs Matt mentioned having been placed by the side-by-side groups at the meadow where the drifts always form.

  3. Re: Back with a new episode! Shifter linkage damage

Well.. no clear reason behind why my shift cable went bad. I replaced it and everything is back to working order.

I hopped under the vehicle and tried adjusting the shifter cable by releasing this...
  4. Re: No-Winter-Maintenance roads north of Red Feather Lakes

My interest is piqued.. that's a weekend long trip for me though, were you thinking the same?

    Re: Bunce & Ironclads tomorrow

There's a seasonal closure on Bunce but it's by gate near the T-33 / MSV junction. You can run the trail either direction up to the gate. Not sure if the log was intentionally placed or just a fallen...
  6. Re: Back with a new episode! Shifter linkage damage

Hopped under. I can move the shift lever off the transmission fine, even goes into park. Nothing is bent or feels loose.

Guess I'll be getting into the dash to investigate and replace my shift...
  7. Back with a new episode! Shifter linkage damage

Back with another episode, ran Switzerland trail today and came up on a huge drift of packed snow > 2ft deep. Made an attempt at, might've been able to do it if I took the chains off and didn't dig...

Re: Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

I wound up tack welding it. The shaft is part time. I'll run it until it fails me, pull it and then do front/rear SYE and have a rear drive shaft made up.

    Re: Gear swap shop

Have you had it at highway speeds yet? How's it do? What's the acceleration like? I was just looking at 4.88's today for mine.

Re: Sevenmile Creek Feb 15, 2020

I ordered mine Sunday, got all the way through payment confirmation and swear I hit a receipt page.. never received an email though. I contacted them this morning via their online chat to inquire...

Re: Sevenmile Creek Feb 15, 2020

Same, once I get my yoke fixed and chains are in. Say, Jim.. did you order yours from tirechain.com? I've seen lots of people on other forums say they're credible. The site said they'd be delivered...

Re: Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

I did attempt to drill/tap the output shaft last night, unfortunately it only marred the surface at best. New plan this evening will be to use an angle grinder and cut the end of the shaft in hopes...

Re: Sevenmile Creek Feb 15, 2020

    I had a blast!

Thanks again for letting me use the chains Matt! I've got 2 pairs on the way, and working on fixing my slip yoke so it doesn't fall off again.

Re: Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

This one isn't on Bill. The best fix would be to convert my t-case to a fixed yoke output. That's a $500 kit though :lmao:. I'm going to try a hack-n-tap which will allow me to bolt my slip yoke onto...

Re: Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

I hear the outer 1/8" or so of the output shaft is hardened and no chance at getting through it without proper carbide bits $$$. I'd say this is the case looking at the splines on the t-case shaft...

Re: Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

That's actually a better idea! Much less chance of melting the seal, which was my only real concern. Maybe I'll go that route! Eventually I'll fix it properly, for the time being I just want to kick...

Re: Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

Compression spring is a good idea, it'd have to be a big one though, like garage door spring size cut to length. I was just digging around in the selection of springs Jax has to offer a few weeks ago...

    Plagued with Drive Shaft Issues

Not really carnage per se, rather some interesting front drive shaft issues I've been plagued with the last couple weeks. Such is life on a straight axle swap :wrench:

    From no front drive shaft...

Re: Sevenmile Creek Feb 15, 2020

My transfer case has splined output shafts that front and rear drive shafts slip over. No seals or entry/exit points at that part.

That's why my front shaft was falling off. With my front being a...

We're still on right? Got my front drive shaft back.. (huge shout out to Bill's Englewood Driveshaft!! Highly recommend!!). Planning to be at the trail-head off Poudre Canyon Hwy by 10.
  22. Re: Sevenmile and perhaps Stump hill next weekend

10 sounds good to me. Always up for meeting earlier though.
  23. Re: Sevenmile and perhaps Stump hill next weekend

Hoping I get my shaft back tomorrow. I'll still tag along and 2 wheel it if you don't mind. I have decent gear to get myself unstuck..
  24. Re: Sevenmile and perhaps Stump hill next weekend

Same, I'm a maybe until tomorrow evening. Waiting to hear if I'll have my front d-shaft back tomorrow or not.
