    Re: Off Road Jack

Got rid of the factory jack years ago as it would max out before even lifting the Jeep enough to raise a tire off the ground. Carried a HiLift for many years but honestly they scare the hell out of...

Re: Dana 44 Steering and info advice

JK D44 are pretty bastardized from just about every other version, so I doubt there is much interchangeable with a 70s axle.

This site has some comparative info for typical radio ranges. However it is lacking data for some of the newer vehicle GMRS 40-50 watt radios which have ranges of 60-70 miles (or of course much more...

I'm one of those. Never purchased a permit yet. Mainly because I believe it is yet another government money grab, to supplement what was previously always covered with existing tax money (do less...

TFL covered the same test results.

Reminds me a little of the 60 Minutes story in the 70's that resulted in wider axles for the CJ model.
  12. Re: FrankenJeep Parts Ident plz - Idler pulley bearing replacemen

Wow, what a crap design. Never seen anything quite like it. Maybe they enclosed the bearing to help keep dust out?
  13. Re: FrankenJeep Parts Ident plz - Idler pulley bearing replacemen

My assumption would be that the whole spindle (bolt/sleeve/bearing cap assembly) is simply pressed into the bearing and could be pressed out to replace the bearing and/or pulley, but having it in...
  14. Re: FrankenJeep Parts Ident plz - Idler pulley bearing replacemen

Have you pulled the spindle out and measured the bearing inner diameter?

Re: COVID: A little something to lighten your day.

FWIW - I had a neighbor (3 doors down) who is a nurse and she was exposed at work pretty early and got sick but not hospitalized (she has since recovered). Then an elderly couple across the way from...

Being able to gear down that 400+ HP probably contributes to the survival of an old-school transfer case. I'm sure the motor could be controlled by a governor at different speeds, but keeping the...

Re: Desert off-road racing in the 60s

Wow, no seat belt/harness or helmets for those guys. Love how the passenger leaned out of the Jeep to add more weight to the inside turn (help keep the Jeep from rolling over).
