    Re: Free 98 xj

Take it and part it out. I bought a "totaled" '99 that had a RE 3.5" lift, ARB rear locker, SYE, and 5 brand new 31" BFG ATs on steel wheels back when I had my XJ. Kept all the good stuff for my...

    Re: Subaru Offroad

Lack of low range is the main problem that I see. My '98 Outback has a 1" Subtle Solutions lift on it right now. I used it for hunting last year and a little extra ground clearance is nice.

    I'd...

Re: Share your "snow storm story"

We only got ~5" in Henderson. I just got done clearing the driveway and there was 2"-8" depending on how it drifted.

We drove home from Frederick/Firestone last night about 6PM and it was pretty...

    Re: fj60 not passing Emissions

On an EFI vehicle, there can be a temp sensor that feeds the ECU and affects fuel mixture. I don't think that has anything to do with carb'd fuel mixture. Have you checked the carb settings?

    Re: fj60 not passing Emissions

What values aren't passing and how high are they? Are the 60s EFI or carb'd.

NVM, I see you added the info.

High CO usually means it's running rich.

    Re: BIG Snowblower $300

I like the idea of the steel wheels on the front. I just had to fix one of the skids on my Toro because it had worn through.

Re: Yankee Hill - Sunday Feb 15th

The lower ball joints on that generation Tacoma and 4Runner was a pi__ poor design. When the lower ball joint or ball joint bolts fail, that is what happens. Lower control arm goes into the dirt...

Poll: Re: How much experience you got?

Bought my first rig, a '72 FJ40, in '98. Have had a 4x4 ever since then, so that makes 17 yrs and counting for me.

    Trade: Tire chains

I have a brand new pair of chains for 35x12.50-15 tires. They are the cam lock style. One of them has been mounted on a tire twice, once when I got them and once to see how far off they are for a...

    Re: Ridgerunners's '97 FZJ80

Yup, it helped that they handed me the list of problems that their service department found, so I had a pretty good idea of what needed to be done. Luckily, I found that some of it was overstated,...

    Re: China Wall 2-14-15

LOL, that rig will do more in stock form than you think it will or are probably willing to try. Larger tires and some armor will help that.

    Re: Ridgerunners's '97 FZJ80

I does have some signs of being offroad. I noticed some gouges in the tranny cross member and t-case skid plate like it might have been high centered at some point. I doubt it was ever seriously...

    Re: Taking a break

This. I also spend more time wrenching than I do wheeling right now. Not only because I like to tinker, but I want to have a solid rig that: 1 - won't let me down or leave me stranded, & 2 - won't...

    Re: Winch Anti-theft Method?

Same here, on the bumper I just finished for the FZJ80, you can unbolt the winch from underneath but it won't come out unless you remove the bumper. I know that's not much help for those that have...
