  1. Re: Wheels - recommendations please - Steel vs Aluminum

Forget wheels, I want to know more about that tan safari style soft top. I've never seen one like that before on an LJ.
  2. Re: Beef Basin to Elephant Hill - Moab, Utah area trip week of Se

Yep, scrambling to get ready here too since we leave Saturday. If you're anxious to go, you could still join us for rimrocker sat and sun.
  3. Re: Help finding a Wrangler to tow behind an RV

I wasn't sure if this was the same issue. I have heard of this one, thanks. It looks like my Jeep was serviced under recall E05 in March 2005 for this. I don't know if they did anything besides...
  4. Re: Help finding a Wrangler to tow behind an RV

I own an '05 TJU. Haven't heard of this before, but there's a lot I don't know. Should I be concerned with the TJU?
  5. Re: Help finding a Wrangler to tow behind an RV

My soft top has the fold back section over the front seats. It works well for us. For hard tops, you can replace the removable hard top panels with a folding soft top --...

    Re: Andy's WK

No, I could only use a tent on my other vehicles at this time. There aren't any "exoskeleton" cargo racks for the LJ that appeal to me.

    Re: Andy's WK

I've been thinking a lot about roof top tents lately as well. I think I'll rent one (there are several on outdoorsy) for ~$50/night before I get to the point of spending $1-$3k on one. Have you...
  8. Re: Buying new tires - recommedations please!

I have been rotating 5 tires since I bought this most recent set a a couple summers ago. Easy enough at Discount Tire to just say "rotate the spare into the set" and they know what to do.

Re: Tie Rod Bender trail, October 3rd

Sounds like a plan for a future camping trip, perhaps while I still have the Jeep setup for overlanding...

Poll: Re: Fabric Doors for Moab Trip

If you figure out how to get the uppers to fit better, I'd like to know how you do it. I've not had much luck reshaping the upper frame. It's a finicky thing.

Poll: Re: Fabric Doors for Moab Trip

I'm bringing some mosquito net to put over the front door / windows so i can get ventilation. I imagine this can work with soft doors similarly, though accounting for the poor fit of soft doors to...

Poll: Re: Fabric Doors for Moab Trip

My fabric doors are awful in high winds or at high speeds (on the highway). With strong winds they tend to pull out and flap at the top of the frame. They are extremely loud. If I were to take...

Re: Autumn multi-day Utah desert trip

I have high hopes for Dark Canyon area (even if we are just bordering it). With the new moon coming on the 17th, we should get some really good dark sky stargazing. I haven't been this excited for...

Re: Autumn multi-day Utah desert trip

I found the trails for the Monticello area on that website while you were responding. I have them now. I haven't been terribly successful finding MVUM / dispersed camping maps for all of the areas...

Re: Autumn multi-day Utah desert trip

Is this still the plan? I was trying to find all of these on the MVUM maps to make sure I understand the route. On the calendar entry, the route is listed as Bridger Jack Mesa Rd, but that seems to...

Re: Autumn multi-day Utah desert trip

Forecast is for lows in mid 40s, highs in mid 70s for the first half of next week in the Monticello area. Moab is mid 50s to mid 80s. Should be some great weather.
  20. Re: Rim Rocker Trail Montrose to Moab Sept 19/20

Sorry to hear that. We'll take some photos for you. Best wishes for you and your family through that.
  21. Re: Rim Rocker Trail Montrose to Moab Sept 19/20

Checking in to see who is planning to run some trail on Saturday. Shane, Ty and I are probably going to caravan from the Golden area out to Montrose. I believe Jaycifer was interested in running...

    Re: Mod For The Day

I have a similar mat that I will use on this trip -- a high density foam mat that we used to isolate out treadmill from the floor when we had a treadmill. I am considering cutting it to fit the top...

    Re: Mod For The Day

I am not particularly worried about mosquitoes on this trip. I suppose the Jeep is not sealed well enough to guarantee bugs won't get in, but I haven't ever had troubles with bugs in the Jeep when I...

    Re: Mod For The Day

I spent the day embracing van life and built out a storage/sleeping platform for next week's trip. Since it'll be just me in the Jeep for a week, it made sense to make a solid (but temporary)...
