  2. Re: Any interest in running anything North of Denver

  3. Re: Any interest in running anything North of Denver

Sounds good Tom...post it up on the calendar...and definitely let me know the meeting spot.
  4. Re: Any interest in running anything North of Denver

I am pretty flexible...meet time 9-10am usually works for me. Gonna have to get the cj running....
  5. Re: Any interest in running anything North of Denver

    Re: Weekend thoughts...?

    that is correct...

I am just over an 1" from the tip of the blades with the current set-up, but I cannot go all the way around as 1/3-1/2 of the fan is not behind the radiator....there is no way...

    Re: Weekend thoughts...?

Look further down - i put a simple shroud on....but due to the off-center nature of the fan with radiator, it doesn't pull air through but about 50-60% of the area.
    Even around town, putting the...

I think the real solution will be an electric fan/shroud combination - but I am hesitant to run that on...

    Re: Weekend thoughts...?

Still running hot - which is manageable on the street as long as you don't get stuck in stop-n-go traffic - but not so good for offroad i am guessing. Oil leak is sorta under control, but not sure it...

    Re: Weekend thoughts...?

My gut feeling is the same, but my wife is looking to get out, especially as she back working a bit. Not so much specific to wheeling, but out doing something - we went skiing on Thurs, but the warm...

Don't think this got posted yet (sorry if I missed it)...both 3 and 6 ton jack stands from HF were recalled...will post the jalopnik article, but really it just has the links to the two recall...
  15. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

I just want my old junk to run like it would have when it was 'new' back in the day....While I wouldn't turn one down if it was done right, I am less interested in an old body on modern...
  16. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

IIRC, the last version of the 4.2, carb and all, and which went into the last CJs and YJ wranglers through 89 (I think?) had auto-metering carbs for altitude fuel mixture adjustment - so I am pretty...
  17. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

I have to disconnect the v-belt, and disconnect the generator from the bracket, and the remove the PS pump and bracket as a unit to access the driver side valve cover and #1....1957 sbc - but the PS...
  18. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

I love the 4.2, but I'd consider a HO 4.0 with the MPI fuel injection vs the early Renix fuel injection (which is what I think is retrofitted on your existing set-up?)...Are planning on keeping you...
  19. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

agreed...you've got some heavy ashy deposits on there, so its definitely not clean full combustion, and a bit of carbon build-up, but not the typical dry black sooty fouling of overly rich and oily,...
  20. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

What do the plugs look like today...the ones in the pic from 9/11 look okay....
  21. Re: Rear Main Seal replacement - dig me out of a hole??

Assuming the pcv valve is functional, open tube vs open valve shouldn't really matter....There is no good way to reduce crankcase pressure from blowby (I just spent the last month working on it in...

    WTB SBC valve coves

Looking for a set of early SBC valve covers with the 'staggered' or 'offset' hole pattern - these were mostly used from 1955-1958 or so. If you any of you have a set around, please let me know. There...

Poll: Re: China Wall anniversary run poll

I'd suggest a CW run on the weekend of 6/20-21....

Brian - you know roughly how big of a group might go on this, and/or if many of the members would camp the night? My biggest concern would be...
