    Re: The Campfire.

Interesting narration, but wow the video itself is remarkably useless - very spastic cuts of stock footage and they re-used the same footage at least 3 times. I think this information would've been...

Re: Communications -what do you use?

This is good to know but may be tricky to deal with. I originally used a very small magnetic NMO mount but quickly replaced it with a much larger one since the small one was easily knocked over.

The crossings were fine. It was beautiful indeed.

Re: Communications -what do you use?

It looks like that just uses a PL-259 connector, which is pretty standard for any vehicle antenna/mount.

My solution is to use an NMO mount for both VHF/UHF and CB. NMO is the form factor of the...

    Re: The Campfire.

My wife and I decided to check out all the local activities, starting with a parade downtown then a cookout at the airport, finally socializing with other locals and watching folks take off and land...

    7/2/2022 Halfmoon Creek

After waiting for the others RSVPs at the meeting point for 25 minutes with no success, Hugh and I decided to head on to the trail.

Lots of traffic was encountered among the early part of the...
  7. Re: Halfmoon Creek & Tincup Pass - Saturday, July 2nd

The attached picture was posted on the ColoradoOffroad subreddit - not mine, but that's Halfmoon Creek!

I'm looking forward to hitting some trails again tomorrow!

Look for me at the meeting...

    Re: Clutch Questions

I'm not mechanically savvy but I do mostly only drive manuals so I may be able to at least tell you if I notice anything too odd in a test drive. I'd think the trick would be getting together since...

    Re: Wheelin this weekend?

Please do - that's what this website is all about!

Since moving to Leadville I've been less inclined to head east to trails, given that there's trails up here that are generally very nice anyway....
  10. Re: My Electric Hummer has a HUGE Problem... and its all my fault

It seems like a benefit of taking an EV off-road would be how quiet they are - helping to enjoy the sounds of the trail and nature. Hopefully newer EVs wouldn't do it in their off-road modes or I'd...
  11. Re: My Electric Hummer has a HUGE Problem... and its all my fault

Neat rig. I wonder why it makes a high-pitched whining noise whereas other EVs don't seem to, at least not that I've noticed in videos but I don't have any EV experience.

    Re: Moving Day

I've looked at getting plates from elsewhere for similar reasons if I have to move back to the Denver area. It's absolutely insane how impossible they make it for non-USDM vehicles like my Jimny to...

    Re: Our First 4x4s

Back in ye olden days of May 2018, my first spring in Colorado, I got this 1995 Nissan Pathfinder SE.

Living in an apartment near Boulder as I worked there for a whopping $15/hr, I didn't have the...

    Re: The Campfire.

Not surprising, given that they've already barred kei trucks from registration, which is too bad given that they do have legitimate good uses.

Case in point - Winter Park uses one to haul wagons.

  19. Halfmoon Creek & Tincup Pass in early July

Halfmoon - after staying closed all last year, it's finally open! I'm only interested in doing the easier side to the right/north (110 I think) that goes to the mill. Beautiful scenery as you drive...

    Re: Fourmile Saturday 5/28

I'll still be out of town then. If nothing else I could do the weekend after that, though by then we might have even more exciting options like Tincup or Halfmoon.

Re: May 22-ish 2022 snow totals

It seemed like we had nearly a foot in Leadville this morning, not far from some of the biggest storms during the winter.

Edit: I'm totally guessing amounts and haven't checked anything official.

It's hard to tell since most of the roads up here aren't nearly level and I haven't driven it on the highway much since the alignment. I definitely wouldn't say that there's a strong re-centering,...

Did you ever figure out flat towing? I've tried flat towing my Jimny but the wheels turn to the outside on tight turns and don't straighten back out. I've had an alignment, made sure that the bar and...
