    Re: Clohesy Lake

I have done Clohesy a three times. The first water crossing is the only real challenge, especially early season. That said its a nice trail. The lake is pretty.

Re: Sat. 7/31 Red Cone via Webster Pass

Its a week out but the weather forecast on weather.com is 40% chance of thunderstorms beginning about noon. Day before is a 70% chance. I am not certain upper Webster’s South side would be safe...

Re: Recommended FRS & GMRS radios

They have rechargeable batteries, but the charging jack broke years ago. One must remove them and throw them in a charger. They have 4 aaa batteries. I will bring it to the cleanup run and you can...

Re: Recommended FRS & GMRS radios

I think it does. It has the same connection that Baofeng, and Kenwood use for external mic/speaker.
I think this one would work with it. I have one, loaned permenantly to my son, that I used on my...

Re: Recommended FRS & GMRS radios

I have a Retevis RT86. Got it free. Its a UHF radio with 16 frequency storage locations. Its built like a tank but you have to program it with their software on a computer. It has a really good...
  12. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

I am comfortable with those channels/freqs. Yes frs/gmrs should be treated the same since they use the same frequencies and can communicate with each other.

I will change up the Red Cone run to...
  13. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

The shorter version is just about what I have on the Red Cone Webster pass planned run.

  16. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

Finding is not difficult. Getting everyone on it can be cumbersome.
  17. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

DTS is a digital version of what we are talking about, but as far as the user is concerned it functions much the same. Yes they are all different names for the same thing.
  18. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

Yes, but its not the transmission frequency. Its an underlying tone on the transmission that causes the squelch to open on the receiving radio. No tone, squelch doesn’t open, and you do hear anyone...
  19. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

Ok Jim I will. The attached images should help.
What we are discussing is a ctcss tone which has a freq associated (hz). On ham radios and many business radios one has to set the ctcss tone in...

Did you use oil and slow speed while drilling? If not thats the reason you dulled so many bits.
  21. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

You introduced a new term that may be confusing to some. I am assuming by squelch codes you mean privacy/ctcss codes. I am leaving dcs out for the moment.

I have set privacy code 4/77 hz codes...
  22. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

Changing channels when others are on the one you are using.

Its what we did on Kingston but Trent suggest privacy codes.

    Re: 2011 AMG G55 Build

My father showed me how to do it by hand when I was about 12. Have never used a sharpener. Most decent grinders have a groove in the tool guide to assist.
  24. Re: FR4x4 default radio channels - what shall we use?

You make a lot of sense. Your wqy is better.
This gives most of the ctcss / privacyvcode translation https://www.k0tfu.org/reference/frs-gmrs-privacy-codes-demystified.html down a ways.

Re: Wed (7/21) or Thurs (7/22) this week?

I'll have to pass on this even though I would like to join. My age is catching up with me. Totally exhausted today after yesterday's run. Probably would not be up for the cleanup run if I joined.
