Welcome to Front Range 4x4 - The Front Range of Colorado Off-Road Club for All Makes & Models of 4x4's

Front Range 4x4 is an off-road enthusiast club serving the Front Range of Colorado.

As a club we differentiate ourselves in a few important areas: There are no meetings, no dues, no endorsements, no sponsors, no vehicle requirements, no hierarchy, no secret hand-shakes, etc. If you are interested in being a member you just have to participate in the forum and trail runs. By participating in the forum and runs you're a member but if you don't participate your account is inactivated or deleted.

A Club with No Leaders?

That's right, there are no designated leaders of Front Range 4x4. No leaders of any kind, no board of directors, no designated trail run organizers, no specific people doing specific tasks. There are forum administrators and moderators but that's about it. Want to organize a run? Do it! Want a special event? Organize it! All members are on equal footing and have the ability to do what ever they think will be enjoyed by others. Front Range 4x4 is the club for people that don't like clubs! Rules? There are rules and failure to follow club rules will result in removal. The primary rule that's held to firmly is respect for the trails & respect for everyone else.

It doesn't matter how experienced you are, pro or novice, you're welcome here. Seasoned wheeler or first time wheeler and everything in between is welcomed and respected at Front Range 4x4. It doesn't matter what kind of 4x4 you drive, we like all 4x4's. Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Hummer, Jeep, Isuzu, Nissan, International, Land Rover, Pinzgauer, Suzuki, Toyota, whatever you have. Participating in the forum is an easy way to meet other 4x4 owners, make some friends, ask questions, get good answers, run some local trails, etc.

There are plenty of vehicle-specific clubs around, if that's what you're looking for, this isn't for you. We think everyone can get along and have respect for each other's 4x4 regardless of make & model. We can all get along just fine, help each other out, have a good time and wheel together. If you want to do a vehicle specific run don't post it here, it will be deleted. Instead find your local vehicle club and run it with them instead. We like variety!

If you think the only truck worth owning is what you drive or that anyone with less modifications has an inferior truck, this isn't the place for you. If you like to get off-road, have some beers and trash the trails this isn't the place for you either. We believe in giving back to the 4x4 community, forest service and supporting organizations that make wheeling in Colorado as great as it is.

Who owns Front Range 4x4?

All of the members own Front Range 4x4. Each member owns it, has equal opportunities to organize activities, and takes equal responsibility for it. As mentioned previously "There are no owners, no meetings, no dues, no endorsements, no sponsors, no vehicle requirements, no hierarchy, no secret hand-shakes, etc." Front Range 4x4 is a group of friends, some who have yet to meet, who share the same respect for the outdoors, the trails, each other, and all 4x4's.

If you don't like to actively participate, feel free to browse the forum but don't bother becoming a member.

60-Day Login Minimum

Each member must log in to the forum at least once every 60 days. There is no need to make a post. The forum software is automated and counts the days since each members’ last login.

Exceptions: Those serving in the military are exempt (the “Serving” badge alerts the admin of these accounts). Courtesy accounts are exempt though there is some subjectivity to the vendors who are also regular members.

One Run Per Year Requirement

The reason for this requirement is to keep the electronic forum in line with who is getting together in the real world.

The guideline is to run your truck on a group listed trail run at least once a year. A group listed run is listed on the calendar and is a Front Range 4x4 run (not a run “also listed” by another group). Calendar listed runs typically would have discussion in the “planning” and “planned” forums as well. While “stick it on the calendar as I walk out the door alone” runs do count, the process is frowned upon as it is not constructive to the group. Sometimes a long posted run has nobody joining in with the original poster. That is unfortunate though the listed run is valid. Members that participate on a listed run would want to post in the trail run’s “report” thread if they wish to have the run accounted for (the admin utilizes these posts to update the wheeler badges).

If you can’t drive your truck on a group listed run, you may ride along on at least one annual cleanup run (preferred) or any listed group run (subject to change).

A trail recovery or assistance run would fulfill the 1-Run per year requirement. The event would not likely be listed in planned/planning or on the calendar though a "report" would be appreciated by most. Helping others is always a good thing. The person being helped would not need be a member for the assistance to be recognized. A trail recovery/assistance is that – trail related. Helping an out of gas vehicle in town a few blocks away from the gas station, while good to do, doesn’t count.

Members that sign up near the end of a year (Sept - Dec) have the run requirement waived for that year.

Exceptions: Those serving in the military are exempt (the “Serving” badge alerts the admin of these accounts). If you moved out of the area, this requirement is suspended while living out of the Front Range area.

Four Spare Tires

The purpose of this is to, again, move subjectivity by the admin to objective guideline. Some members have expressed an inability to drive their truck on a trail at least once in a year, but they wish to remain a member. Most folks might be able to schedule a ride-along on at least one of the annual clean-up runs but for those that can’t work that out, in come spare tires. If an account is (or would be) placed in an inactive state, a spare tire may be used to keep the account rolling. There, currently, is no provision to “fix a flat” and get back to four spare tires. When all four are used, the truck won’t roll.

Keep your negativity to yourself. If you have nothing positive to say, do not say it. If you absolutely have to say it, take it to PM, or better yet, email.

No Racial, Ethnic, Religious, or Sexual Slurs or Pictures at any time for any reason.

No illegal activity - Anything illegal will not be posted here.

No Hazing, Flaming, or Harassing - Friendly ribbing among friends is okay, but if the target of such attacks expresses concern, or the members feel its necessary, the thread will be deleted.

If you have a problem with the way this board is moderated, or with the content of its posts, please PM an Administrator. We can discuss your concerns and attempt to come to an agreement without announcing it to the public.

Please keep the foul language to a minimum. The occasional slip of the tongue is okay, but if it gets out of hand warnings you will be deleted. Remember this is a family-friendly community.

If you see a post that contains what you think is questionable content, please contact an administrator by clicking the Report button (triangle) on the bottom left of the post.

We have a great group of people, if you do anything to disrupt the friendliness you do not belong here. Making unreasonable demands, accusations, or being generally disruptive is unacceptable.

Profile avatars: It is recommended that you have an avatar for your profile. If you do, the avatar must be a generally recognizable photo of your rig. The reason and "compliance test" is: Should someone be meeting you at a trail head, parking lot, or side of the road, would they recognize your vehicle from your avatar. If yes, that's a good avatar. If not, please update it. Should you have multiple rigs, listing your most commonly used rig would be reasonable.

As we humans sometimes like to change avatars, there will be an "Avatar Quarterly" that will run in the winter (generally non-trail running season) for the months of December, January, & February. If you want to go crazy and post up any avatar of your whim, have at it. Your rig does not need to be in it but it should be suitable for general public viewing.

For vendors, they may display as general members with truck based avatars, but most may wish their company logo, which seems preferred.
