1960 Willys Wagon
Been kind of interested in this...

the seller has dropped the price a bit over the last few weeks so I gave him call to discuss and get more info.
He sent me some more photos of the interior and areas of concern. He re-iterated that the engine is a sbc302 based on his tracing of the block number (which is very unlikely, but if so, its probably worth more than the Willys and could be sold for a premium as a normal sbc 283 or similar would be fine with me). He had the carb rebuilt and supposedly its running well with plenty of power. Brakes have all been redone as you can see in the CL add. Looks to be T90 with D18? Wouldn't mind switching it over to OD automatic at some point (700R4). Original steering - might want to address that. Has none of the original seats etc...from the up close pictures, it looks less rust free and more typical of these wagons.

Re: 1960 Willys Wagon
What condition do you think the frame is in (rust-wise)?

Re: 1960 Willys Wagon
Oily and covered with mudcake..the tend not to rust to much because they leak lots of oil...just like mine.

I heard about a guy in Wheatridge who had a collection of these. If you want, I can ask.

for sure...always looking for a good find...the one I posted above might be good for a project, but the price is then a bit high. Its one of those that looks pretty good, and would be fine for a driver/wheeler etc if you kept it as is and just made sure it was mechanically sound, but even though its not a rust bucket, it has just enough rust issues that all the pieces would have to come apart at the seems to truly prep it for paint and make it nice...actually that is very similar to my cj...its a good driver, but not a good restoration candidate (and thus the bent bumper on chinamans last week). It would take the same amount of work to quasi-restore that one as it would a complete rust bucket, but this one requires a lot more to purchase. Haven't decided if I want to make an offer - certainly not $4400....feels more like $2500 (given that it has a v8 and disc brake kit and is running), but it would be better to just drive it and I think I want one to fix up as a nice cruiser....clean restoration and paint on the outside, and maybe a few modern upgrades underneath....This one has potential at the right price, just not sure what that price is...and another hard part for me, I truly need a better location to store it than my driveway....

Northwest DesMoine... I'm driving to IL next thurs-ish and back to CO Tues-ish - want me to stop by for a local visit (take a bunch of pix for you)? Polk City is 10 miles off of I-80...
If it's road-worthy I could be up for a road trip - do a fly-n-drive (two day drive - at the best - to CO).
Stirring the pot...
Or just ride with me, I'll drop you off...
