Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
It’s a month away now and I know we had quite a few folks interested in doing this Southern Utah classic 35+ mile one way, out and back. It’s rated Difficult and it’s extremely remote and far from any services. The planning thread has a lot of YouTube videos of folks doing this trail so we know where the hardest and sketchiest sections are located. We will probably spend 2 nights on the trail and we might have another day and night to spend exploring something else (San Rafael Swell was suggested & would be a great option.
So, I’m itching to post the event on the calendar but will let this steep for a few days and hopefully we can get a good idea of who is still interested and planning to join!

I'm absolutely interested, but cannot do that weekend. I am currently free almost any weekend after that one.

Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
Matt I'm definitely in, been planning for a while now to take off work
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
IDK how I did it, but I took the 18th to 22th off for this, even put Hole In The Rock in my schedule for that time. I'm working on it...

Looks like I'm in. :thumb:
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
My apologies, I had no work conflicts so I thought I was good to go, but my wife has a medical appointment that monday which is why she switched the off days in our schedule. Have fun!

Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
I could also potentially head back home on the 19th.
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
Still just two of us confirmed on the calendar. We're getting close to the trip date now.
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
Yep I noticed also. Steve O, James and Gretchen all recently posted they were in but haven’t RSVPd yet. I was hoping to see Shane and his big G also 😎
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
I forgot all about this. But yeah, I can make it. I'll go ahead and sign up.
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
I just cancelled all my clients for the 20th, so now I do not have to drive home until the 19th. I'm good for one extra day.
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
yes...I am holding out on full commitment more than I wanted to, but....I am continually monitoring my back injury and how much sitting (specifically in a driver seat) it can handle. We have also been packing up our house getting ready for the first big moving weekend coming up this weekend. So after 4 days of loading and unloading a big moving truck, plus the 15 hour drive etc, we'll see how things feel. I also have my first pre-op consultation for the microdiscectomy on Tues right after the moving weekend (which is just a couple days before I would head to UT). Its going to be a little bit of a last minute call...
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
watched all 3 videos, trail looks super fun. hope you all go very well prepared and stay safe!
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
We lost Jim. I wonder what happened to "99% yes"
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
I'm in! I was traveling for work and have been getting absolute crushed since I got back, but I do have someone to cover for me now so I'm in! I will be more responsive to plan details and also going through my camping gear this weekend. Also have a story about the clutch job on the TJ good God....

I'm really glad to hear this, I was seriously thinking about dropping out or cancelling but I feel having at least 5 rigs should be good! Looking forward to seeing you again Steve, is the Rubicon back up and running?
Re: Hole in the Rock Trail - May 14-18
Can we consolidate the vital information for the trip in this thread?
Permits needed? - Yes, $30, 7 day pass for Glen Canyon NRA (how/where do we get this?)
Coordinates for meetup?
GPX / other track information?
Dispersed camping options for Saturday night (travel day)?
I don't know where exactly where we are going and I will need to understand that all this weekend.
