Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Interested... got hosed out of it yesterday.
BTW do not try to take a grand cherokee on Red Cone. The trail is not jeep rated.

Cracking out a lever for the story within...
My brother has a newer GC and I have toyed with the _thought_ (only) of seeing if it would be able to make it around the entrance rock (without damage).
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Bone stock 2014 Grand Cherokee. It had a diesel. Don't know if that makes any difference in clearance or not, but a rock jumped up and ripped apart the aluminum oil pan. That was after another rock had shaved quite a bit of aluminum off the rear lower control arm. Bad idea all around. It looked like you could haul a whole lot of groceries or soccer balls in it though. :lmao:
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
I have a friend in a stock xj that might come, he should be ok right?
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Interested as well.
A stock Cherokee is going to get the rockers beat on a little and more than likely scrape the under carriage a good bit. Ran it a couple years ago with my Cherokee with 3" of lift and 33s and got the rockers with a couple rocks in it.
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
dang lol, wonder if my Bronco with 4" and 33's will be ok. I haven't gotten any armor yet and I'd like to keep her purty til I do. It's been a LONG time since I've been up there. Are all the wash outs fixed?

Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Thanks for the inspiration Tom! See you up there? lol
Thanks for the inspiration Tom! See you up there? lol
If it was Saturday I'd say yes.
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Tjs and broncos don't catch rocks as easy as Cherokees do since the body sits on top of the frame. You should be good to go with your bronco.
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Only one way to find out! How many takers so far? My buddy is going to be riding with me because his XJ has a steering clunk issue right now (track bar?) Hope to meet more of you fine folks before we get snowed out.....
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Just a heads up, I pm'd all interested parties and I'm posting here as well. I blew out my rear pinion seal on my way to work today. The rear end looks like it may need a rebuild so I'll probably be 2-3 weeks out until I can wheel again  Sorry about that guys
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14
Sorry to hear it Justin.
I just changed from a Maybe to Yes. I can bow out (change to no) if there's no group to go. I can lead. I'd be interested in pushing the meet time back 30 or 60 minutes (driving from FoCo).
At this point, if anyone else wishes to go, I'd go. If I'm the only one, I won't be going.
Let's see what settles out by Saturday evening...
Re: Red Cone pass 9/14/14

I just came in from the T33a / Bunce / Ironclads trip. I'm tired. I'm thinking that staying home tomorrow could be a nice thing...
I'm leaving it yes for now (and crossing fingers nobody jumps in...)
