New Member Hello!
Hello everyone! I live in the Manitou Springs are and drive a 2002 yellow TJ with a 2.5 lift and 33 inch tires. I have been a member of Colorado Four Wheelers, Colorado Springs since 2007, served on on the BOD a couple different times for a total of 3.5 years. Schedules don't always match up so I wanted to join an additional group for more opportunities. I am retired and would enjoy wheeling weekdays as well as weekend trips. I mostly like the more moderate trails. With a spotter, I would include Black Bear as a moderate for myself. In the past I have lead many trips in Ouray, starting with Corkscrew, Hurricane, CA Gulch one day (Don't like leading the Poukeepsie portion myself) and 2nd day Blk Bear and Imogene. Such a beautiful area, I try to visit every year or two.
Looking forward to joining some trips and meeting new people.

Welcome to the group!
I'd say - don't wait for someone to stir the waters for a trip - jump in and post some thoughts for a trip in "Planning" and get something going yourself!

Welcome Donna, my wife and I are heading down to Telluride, Ouray and Lake City area Sunday-Wednesday. Weather should make things interesting. But mostly going for the camping anyways.
As my wife doesn't like shelf roads. It's my favorite area in Colorado.

I love that trip, rain or shine. Good chance Black Bear might not be open, but Ophir and return on Imogene probably. Only bad thing about rain on Imogene is harder to explore the Tommy Boy mine area in the rain.
I wish I could join, but my calendar is full. Maybe next August I will lead a trip down there. I will be out of the country 2023 4 months thru June, so if I plan it, it will be on the calendar by February.
Have a great time!

Re: New Member Hello!
Welcome, hope to see you participate in some of the groups activities! Like Jim said, feel free to throw ideas and event ideas out there on the trail planning forum to get folks interested in planning some runs…… that’s what it’s all about!

Re: New Member Hello!
Thanks. I hope to. Day trips, I need to be closer to the Springs, but would happily do overnights on trips farther away.

Re: New Member Hello!
Something in the Gulches this summer would be fun! It’s a long haul for me since I’m up near Rocky Mt National Park but I’ll make the trek! I’ve made it twice (ran Hackett both times) and both times were completely epic ….. Feel free to toss around some ideas and dates on the “trail planning” forum 🤙🏽

Re: New Member Hello!
Thanks. I am trying to set something up when a friend is visiting July 3rd. I just need to make sure my Jeep is in good working order. You know Metberry has a wonderful flat area for camping.

I hear what your saying. I just came back to limping home from Beuna Vista, I think we're going to have to tear into my drive train. Sometimes I wish I could buy a newer vehicle, but I don't get 5o get out as much as I like too, to justify it.

Re: New Member Hello!
Oh no! Well, guess that's the way the dice roll when you play. I hope it's not as bad a limp as you think. Best of luck for a cheap recovery!

Re: New Member Hello!
We made it home alright, just bummed we couldn't do everything we had planned. It was a trip that I had been planning for 4 years. Going down there on my own a couple of times to do reconasonce for trails and campsites so that my wife would be comfortable going. Didn't want her to never go wheeling again if I took her over something she couldn't handle.
We will reschedule for next year once my rig is fixed.

Re: New Member Hello!
Sorry to hear. You know there are lots of nice, flat campsites around the Colorado Trail. I think the FS #'s are like 201, 203, 204, etc. And they will be there in 2023!

My mechanic is 99.9% sure the knocking I am hearing is the rear axal that needs replaced. Oh brother...glad I didn't keep driving it!
