The China Wall anniversary run will take place over two days this year to see if more people can join this way. The plan will be to begin the trail at 10:00 each day. There may need to depart in several groups depending on how many members we have and how busy the trail is overall.
Camping is a tradition for some and there is plenty of room in the area. There may be a fire ban in place so plan accordingly. Last year I believe it rained and possibly even snowed a bit.
To get there from Denver area, take 285 over Kenosha pass to the town of Jefferson, then left on 77. The entrance to China Wall in just south of the town of Tarryall, which is roughly 30 miles south of Jefferson. Bailey is the last stop for gas on this route.
From the Castle Rock and Colorado Springs area, take 24 to just past Lake George, then turn right on 77. Take 77 about 12 miles. Lake George is the last stop for gas on this route.
The group normally camps along this road, somewhere around https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1148.../data=!3m1!1e3. You may need to look around or possibly someone can/will post an exact location once established, though cell coverage is a bit sketchy.
The weekend is posted as two runs, please RSVP for either/each of the days individually so the rest of the group will know who to expect each day.
Please indicate if you will be camping, and which nights, in the RSVP comments so others will know who else to look for if they want to camp with the group.
Since this can be a short trail to run and the normal potluck may not be the best idea this year, there are a lot of options in the area. The other side of 77 has quite a circuit of roads that includes La Salle pass. While not difficult, the area is fun to explore.
About an hour out is the Four Mile area,
Another half hour and you can be at Chinaman Gulch/Carnage Canyon.
Eagle Rock, Saran Wrap, Bull Park, the Gulches, etc. are all options depending on desires.
There is also some prime fishing at Antero, Spinney, and Eleven Mile reservoirs and good river/creek fishing at the "Dream Stream", Eleven Mile Canyon, and the places you can get onto Tarryall Creek depending on what types of fishing you may be interested in. At the writing of this, Park County had a ban on recreational shooting.
People heading from the North and South should coordinate in the Planned Trail Run thread if they want to meet up and head up together. There are several good meeting spots.
