hey everyone, my name is Brad, I live on the east side of colorado springs. I am new into offroading and am loving it so far. I currently have a 2000 dodge ram, but I am trying to get two 4runners. an 89 with all kinds of mods, and a 22re, and 3.0 v6 (yes I know about these engines, but this one has a fresh rebuild.) Ive been looking around on here and for different trails. so far with my truck, ive just been up rampart road (which had about 12 inchs of snow). that was a itle sketchy, but i didn't get stuck at all, just almost slid off a cliff and died  . but anyways, I look foward to wheelin' with you guys. next atempt after i get my 4runner is eagle rock :)

Hey Brad! Welcome to the forum! Good to see another full size, too, and a couple more Toyotas.

The 3.0L has a bad rep, but is a decent engine ad=nd built like most Yota engines. You can put some serious miles on them. I had close to 200K when I did my 3.4L swap and the only thing I did to mine that was major was to replace the timing belt. Never had any head gasket problems, the thing that gave these engines the bad rep, either. The only thing bad about it to me was the fact that you can't do many upgrades to it. About the only things you can do without spending more $4 than it's worth, is to upgrade the exhaust with a free flow muffler and CAT and slightly oversized plumbing, plus do an after market air intake. I picked up a full gear going up hills doing this.

Anyway, looking forward to meeting you, whatever you are driving. Hope you can make it to the Anniversary run.

thanks for the welcome everyone. I plan on going to the anniversary run. just gotta make sure everything is good. anyone going from in the springs that wants to meet up and head up there in a pack? also, anyone know about how long it would take from east side of springs, to conifer taking highway 67 to 285 from woodland park?

I'm not sure I understand this. Are you asking how to get to Metberry from the springs? 24 E to Divide, then N on Teller 51. I recommend picking up these:

As we get closer to the date I think the folks in the Springs will (and should) post a meeting spot to caravan to Metberry to help anyone not familiar with it. We have already established that for the Denver area people.

this is what I found: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

go to directions, from colorado springs, co to conifer, co. it says to go to WP and turn right on highway 67

I'm still confused. Do you need to know how to get to Metberry or Conifer? Conifer is probably easier via C-470.

I'm more wondering the best way to go there. I found a few different routes. I guess if we all meet up and convoy up there then I don't have to worry about it. more just wondering what time I should leave the house so I can be in Conifer at 8:30

Springs people need to organize a meeting spot -> http://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?8313-2nd-Annual-Anniversary-Run-March-27th/page2

I'm more wondering the best way to go there.

The simplest way is what I posted. I don't know, however, if there's a quicker way via Westcreek. One thing I do know is that Conifer is probably 60 miles out of the way (from C-Springs).
