Here is the link to Ken's(Gecko Cycles) trip up to Bill Moore Lake. People thinking about running Yankee Hill and thinking it is going to be a 'fun' 'stocker' run should maybe read this as it isn't all that far away and is on the same side of the road as Yankee Hill. Just a heads up...

Wow! Maybe that's who I was talking to on my CB. I heard some chatter on channel one, asked for a radio check and location, they told me Bill Moore.

I don't remember any shelf roads on Yankee Hill. Trees and rocks, but no shelf roads. That could make for a fun day of not getting very far...if that is your idea of fun. :D

That was me. We were into the 173.1 loop quite a ways when I heard you. We had just crested a little hill, as I went down I lost you, actually I think you lost me as I could still hear you but I don't think you were receiving me..

Where were you?

Where were you?
I was across the highway, on Saxon Mountain. I started picking up your transmissions while coming down FS 712.2C and headed East on FS 712. I was in the trees where it was narrow, snowy, and icy when the transmissions started getting stronger. I thought someone was coming uphill toward me, so I called for a check and location. When you said "Bill Moore Mountian," I was in a state of disbelief.

After walking around Lamartine I was driving down 712.2 and heard something like an adjustable valvetrain and short whistling sounds. Are you the whistler??? LOL

Is this the Empire Hilton? Did you go inside? If so, any pics?

I think that is the 'Empire Hilton'. Last time I stopped there, the inside was looking pretty bad...kinda like someone had left the door open more than once and the animals...like squirrels, mice, and raccoons...had gotten in and gotten into everything. People had obviously been using it, like you can do, and had obviously been leaving extra food, water, clothing for the next people, as they ask that you do, but it was starting to look like a outside Goodwill Donation Center in Harlem (read: garbage dump) especially in the fenced in area.
