Camping/light wheeling around Buena Vista

Well before Jessica and I moved to Castle Rock we went on a small camping trip for our anniversary. Started off kinda rough when I had a heater hose blow at the manifold, then found out after repairs that I had also torn the wires out of the Ignition control module on the side of the dist. So we tow it home and use the parents RR to tow home the toaster.

Take 2 - Drive parents rig up to BV after getting my rig to Pikes Peak Rovers (needed it for moving day.. had to be fixed). Set up camp in the beautiful mountains. Oh I wish I was there.

Camping - Well we did some hiking and wheeling. Started off by doing Sevenmile Road to Downtown. From there we did Mt. Princeton. Hung around in town did some hiking. After that we Started taking random roads again and did Bald Mtn Gulch.

Hey D weed...we were camping on Bald Mountain Gulch. Where were you guys? We were in the highest saddle just about in the middle of the trail...We ran it from the OCG side Friday, then down Arnold's Gulch to the staging area, then Iron Chest yesterday, back to the same campSaturday before dusk, then all the way down to Trout Creek today. You must have been hidden cause we sure didn't see Mr Toaster anywhere...

LOL We were camping this weekend too... took the fam out Rawlins Pass towards Moffet Tunnel (I think it was called?), turned left just before it and went up towards Apex peak but before that we found a place with camping spots, I think I saw a sign saying Mammoth Gulch? And there was some old resivor up there too.

It was an awesome time... Time and report to come in it's own thread.

Wow. This must be BV weekend or something. We're staying in Salida.

Went to Mt. Antero (white knuckler for me) and Browns's Lake on Saturday and Hancock Pass (beautiful) today/Sunday. Were planning on doing Tomichi Pass, but were warned at the turn-off from Hancock Pass that two jeeps were stuck and one was sliding off the trail. Took the long way back to Salida over Monarch Pass (Hwy 50, not the trail).

Just got the kids to sleep. Headed back on Monday. Hope to post pics tomorrow night.

Just outside of the town of BV right beside the river. I will try to find the name of the road later, but act as if you are heading to Cottenwood pass but turn right at the light instead!
