Well what can I say, it was a lot of fun, really great to see something different in front of you besides another FJ, seeing how another vehicle performs on an obstacle. Had not one, but two H3s with us and they have been the first two I have ever seen on a trail, I was really impressed. Besides the vehicles, met some really good people today and look forward to wheeling with them again.

Day started off sunny and clear, we ran Johnny Park first and on our way up to T33A it got nasty, really nasty, sprinkling turned to rain, then really heavy rain and then finally this snow/rain mixture. It mellowed out a few minutes later, but we lost 3 of our crew because of it. Aaron, sorry about that, hope you guys got home not too wet.

One disappointment from this run, some of the wreckage is missing on T33A, the cockpit is gone only the lower section remains, seats and the glass that used to be there last year has been taken.

Anyway here's the pictures:

I thought this was cool, but it was a good opportunity to catch my breath more than anything after climbing back up from the engine. I am out of shape!

Looks like you had a great turnout and a lot of fun, still wanting to do that run for my first time. :thunb:

Ticks me off that someone stole parts from the site, idiots.

x2. Thank you Jock for setting this up. It was awesome to see what other vehicles can do, meet awesome people and see older FJ friends.

I have always been impressed by Rubicons, but I was almost amazed to see H3s in action today. Good stuff!!

Kyle....It was a pleasure meeting you and thanks for leading us down T-33 for a bit.

I wish I had my camera with me today. I am usually the one taking most of the pictures, but was out of it today.

Wow -- You did the rocks on the plane crash trail in real rain (not just spit)?!? Looking at the trail map, I'm talking about the rocks where the trail turns a sharp left uphill about half way through.

You have to post pics of that.

looks like a great time. I'll have to go check that place out some time.

If you do run the T-33A trail, you can also run Ironclads, which is about 5 miles north up Bunce School Road. Makes for a good day of wheelin'.

Sounds like a great run! We missed two good runs this weekend...damn...Busted knuckle bearing on my heap keep me out of the running...a part it seems only Toyota carries, too.

One of the things we like about this group, too...seeing everything from a Sammi to a Dodge 2500 Quadcab do the same obstacles and watching how everyone has to drive a slightly different line. Good way to learn, too.

I hate it when people do not respect stuff like the wreckage! It is the same to me as scratching a 'new' petroglyph in the Canyonlands area or painting graffiti on 1000 year old cave paintings, which we have seen on a couple of islands...People who do that should be forced to have 'I am a classless subhuman' carved into their foreheads for all to see...

Even though I was one of the ones who bailed, I had a blast. The Johnny Park trail was a good one to give the rig and the driver some confidence. Ok, mainly the driver.

My family and I ended up soaked mainly because we didn't take the hint to put the windows on the Jeep when the rain was light. My newly gained confidence still wouldn't allow me to trek up the T33A trail in the rain and it was raining cats and dogs with some snow at the time we made the decision. We laughed about our stupidity all the way home.

This, of course, means that I still want to do that trail. Looks like there were some great camping spots up there and I could even take the camper to the Peaceful Valley campground.

Oh, and I hope the @$$holes who stole some of the wreckage rot in hell. In my opinion, that was a memorial to people who fought and died while in the service of our country and those people desecrated it.

At any rate, here are some pics from the adventure.

You have to post pics of that.

Unfortunately, because it was raining I don't think anyone got any pics of us going up it, water and digital cameras are not a good combination, but most of all, being up their the lightning was cool if you were in your rig, not so much outside. I turned to one of the weather channels on the CB and they said to expect cloud to ground strikes, just then about 100yds I saw one.

Coming down there were a couple pictures taken, one I want to see of one of the H3s with a rear tire in the air.

Hey Aaron

Couldn't agree more on the wreckage thieves...

We usually bring rain pants and coats plus gloves and hats, especially when I have the tube doors on since I don't have the window option. A couple of other things we bring are one piece ski suits. LaDawn has one that we got at Goodwill or ARC for $7 and I have my expensive ice climbing/boarding/skiing one. These things are a life saver! One of the other things I usually bring for LaDawn is a sleeping bag liner that I got at WalMart for around $20. She just bundles herself into that when it gets really chilly.

These have saved the day (and mood) more than once...Glad you had fun! That trail is easily run in conjunction with Middle St Vrain/Coney Flats, too..

Funny. As we were headed to the trailhead for T33A, and the rain and snow started coming down really hard, I looked up at the sky and said "I get it"... I took that as a sign from above that I should have been more prepared with clothing, ponchos, etc for that trip. We will have a waterproof bag with better rain clothes attached to the rack from now on.

The other issue is, because the front windows I have for the jeep are the glass slider type, its tough to take them with us. I'm going to buy some soft windows which will easily fit under the rear seat.

I have had really good luck with the waterproof 'river bags'. Even WalMArt has a version that works pretty well, but the best I have found have been at Sportsman's Warehouse and REI. Some of these I have had in very hard use for over 12 years...they are showing signs of wear, but are easily patched with vinyl (or Hurculite, the name brand of the cloth) and silicon.

The one that gets the most use is a Seal Tite waterproof duffel style with a fold over top. This one I got at REI too, and have had for about 6 years. It fits everything I need as far as emergency clothes, takes up little room and carries a lot of stuff.

Sorry you had to bailout Aaron, it was great meeting you and your family! One thing I have learned is that when you head into the mountains you better be prepared for all types of weather. I didn't bring rain gear this time but it will be with me from now on.

It was a great day in the hills. Sorry I bailed. When I saw the lightening and heard the thunder at T-33A I made an executive decision and split. I didn't want to get struck by lightening on top of the mountain in the JK with the fiberglass top, there's no lightening protection by way of the "Faraday Cage" effect if there's no metal roof on the vehicle...

I ended up taking the scenic route back home via Peak To Peak to Switzerland/Sugarloaf Trails and down Boulder Canyon.

Had a fun day meeting and wheeling with all you guys! It was awesome to see the FJ's and Jeeps in action. Sorry I bailed at the T-33A too... rain was crazy and I wanted to get back home at a decent time. My brother and I stopped through Nederland to air up and take a pic next to that huge crane. Look forward to wheeling with you guys anytime. :thunb:Here's a few pics but will post more soon...

It's great seeing the H3's being used and not on 24" rims and such!!
