The text:

GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. -- A dirt biker is recovering after striking a large cable which was strung across a trail in Gilpin County. On the Blog Thumpertalk.com (http://www.thumpertalk.com/) an ER doctor told a blogger that he treated someone "who was severely injured dirt-biking. (Injured) by a wire that was strung across the trail at neck height, up near Gamble Gulch in the Rollinsville area."According to the Gilpin County Sheriff's Office, the wire was a one-and-a-half-inch thick cable.

It slashed the victim's throat. The sheriff's office said Tobin Michael Kohlhepp then drove himself to a hospital in Boulder.Residents said there is a constant fight between land owners who live in Gamble Gulch and dirt-bikers who often improperly use private trails. The Gilpin County Sheriff is investigating whether that cable was put there intentionally.

Pretty hard core of the guy to drive himself to the hospital. Glad he was not left unconscious, bleeding on the trail without attention.

Improper use of private trails. How about improper use of cable with the intent to maim and potentially more? A gate, you know, like maybe made of wood or something if these "private trails" are indeed not right of ways? Best keep our eyes out and hope the sheriff discovers who did this and that the DA presses charges.

Too much to list here. And we are called bad and wrong for being on trails with OHVs?

unfortunately this seams to be happening more and more. Luckily this guy was still able to get himself help, many others aren't so lucky.

I understand both sides grievances but in this case, as long as it's the area i'm thinking about, the OHV roads were there before the houses, so the people that bought those houses should be SOL in my opinion. can't buy a house out near the airport then complain about the noise.
