Here is what lies at the trail head of Three Fingers Petroglyph trail. It is about 14 miles south of exit 145 (not a real exit, but a turn off on the side of the highway). The north side, heading west on 1-70 before the rest area, leads to the Devil's Racetrack and more petroglyphs and arches.

Here are a few from Cottonwood Wash, starting 14 miles west of HWY 6 north of Green River, about five miles up from the exit where there is a power station on the left. This is a great camp site. The Spanish Trail sign is on the way, the canyon is what you look at from your camp chair, the petroglyphs are about .4 miles down, up a very short steep hike, and the creek runs all the way down the canyon. I didn't even post the three arches found in the first .6 miles of the canyon. I have specific directions if anyone goes.

What, you didn't get your goverment-mandated absurd, over-top, record-breaking oil-company profits consumer rebate?

Actually, it wasn't too bad. I think it ran me about $120 one way, have to look at the receipts. Over I-70 is the killer, almost $4.00 a gallon!

$120 isn't bad, now if I add a camper, bikes and other stops...HMMMMM

I'm with you Dave! Let's try to get a Moab Run going in October. Pick a date but not including a Mon-Wed date since I'm booked for those for the next year.

I should have some Elephant Hill petroglyph pics, I'll have to look. The long hike is very cool, the rock formations are great!

I went on Elephant Hill once as a passenger and it is on the list of places to get back to. Hiking wasn't involved on the last trip. I know there are ruins on Salt Creek road. Like you, if I can go, I will go to Moab. I am well aware of desert withdrawal but I get my fix in a few weeks.
