I just finished the install of my Novak Cable Shifter. This is a huge upgrade from the linkage/z-bar stock design that is present in TJ/XJs to actuate the transfer case. My linkage dislodged on Holy Cross over the 4th of July weekend. It was no problem to put it back together but I then realized the linkage was bent and consequently I could no longer engage 4-LO. Until I got this new shifter installed, my MO for engaging 4WD typically involved crawling under the Jeep and manually actuating it at the T-case as someone slowly crept the Jeep forward above me. Not cool .

When I removed my skid plate to make the install easier (not absolutely necessary) I realized my transmission mount was toast as well. Autozone had one in stock and replaced it under warranty for free, as I had purchased the prior one from them 2 years ago. I personally wouldn't consider this a failure of the part itself but the dude didn't hesitate when he found out I bought the prior one there. Score! Now, I'm ready for a shake-down run.

That's a sweet upgrade, my XJ linkage is somewhat hard to engage/disengage did this help in that aspect? I haven'nt experienced it popping out of gear yet. but this look like it would shift smoooth.

Its supposed to be a much smoother shift operation. I just buttoned it up last night so haven't really had a chance to thoroughly test it out. I plan to do a shake-down run this weekend.

That's nice - I like that.
