Found these on clearance at Lowes for $3.50-ish. They still have some at I-25 and Arapahoe.

I tried these out tonight. They take a couple of watch style batteries. Work like a charm. They are a bit thicker shaft than normal due to the batteries being inside, but I don't think I will really notice. As long as they have the same strength as a regular extension, it is worth the trade off.
