This is a cool idea. Great for flaring custom length radiator tubes or inter-cooler tubes.

Considering that about half the "new" Vise Grip brand pliers are made in Taiwan or China, it's kind of a no brainer. I'll keep the "old" American Vise Grips for regular use and buy a "new" pair for making this "slick" tool.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. There are bound be to be cheap immitation vice grips on sale at your local home improvement center for the holidays.

So I found a pair of cheap Vice Grips, both standard and needle nose for $5 at Home Depot on Monday. It was a special holiday deal, but there was tons on the rack near the front of the store. Also picked up a baggie of Grade 8 washers for about a buck. Should be a cheap and handy tool. I need to flare a copper tube, so it will get put to use as soon as I put it together.
