While Dave is finishing the engine we are installing one of our winch mount brackets for the 1st gen trucks. Then the front spring hanger.

First cutting off the old bumper brackets

with silver or blue bumpers and sliders and such.

I need some feed back. Which is more desirable? Hood high flat stinger or pointed for the front bumper on the Raffle truck.

pointed for the front bumperI like the pointed one

Chris
January 10th, 2013, 10:16 AM
I like the pointed one too, the flat looks good on a less aggressive truck.

RidgeRunner
January 10th, 2013, 07:03 PM
I like the flat one, I've never liked the look of the tall pointy stingers. Makes the truck look like it has a chubby all the time.

KnuckleHead
January 10th, 2013, 07:33 PM
Pointed looks better

The StRanger

My vote is for Flat ...
Somthin about the pointy just dont look right...

Patrolman
January 10th, 2013, 09:26 PM
I prefer the flat. Gives a place to mount lights to later if you want. Indifferent regarding the looks, all about practicality here.

ColoJeeper
January 11th, 2013, 09:17 AM
I like the flat better, but would make it a bit taller.

TOYOTAPARTS
January 12th, 2013, 11:02 AM
ok, from a tally of all the opinions, hood high flat stinger gets the vote. Although if the Winner wants to change it out for something different I am fine with that.

PRP really came through with some sweet seats. Then if a super nice pair of custom seats wasn't enough they offered up some nice harnesses. I cant wait to see these.:D

We plan to have this truck at KOH. We have a trailer but no tow rig/person to get the truck to KOH. If anyone is driving down and can tow a trailer we should could use the help getting it there. Thank you

It's been a number of years since I've been to Placerville, I look foward to visiting again to pick this up!

Dave, is there a PayPal account setup for selling these raffle tickets?

If not you all should consider it, great for spur-of-the-moment sales and for those with a "secret stash" to avoid spousal curiosity about "more money being spent on the truck?" (not that I'd know about those sorts of things) :lmao:

Double checking on the right transmission to use. I think a G series would be a better choice. I have a W56 in my first Gen and the trans shifter is quite a distance back from the dash.
http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae148/daveztoyotaparts/RTF%20Raffle%20truck/raffletruck054_zpsde2c95ae.jpg

We laid a couple transmissions out along side of each other and found that a G series transmission shifter is 2.25 inches closer to the front of the trans. This would give more room between the T case shifter and the trans shifter.

We also were super excited to get an unexpected box from the man in brown. PRP said the seats just wouldn't be right with stock belts draped across the front. They sent us a pair of their 5.3 harnesses.
http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae148/daveztoyotaparts/RTF%20Raffle%20truck/prpbelts001_zps7c77bae0.jpg

This 3”, 5 point seat belt has sewn in pads for comfort, all black hardware for cool styling and quick adjusters on the shoulders. The new quick adjusters fix a problem that has been an issue with off road seat belts for years. Once a belt gets some dirt and water in the webbing they become very difficult to adjust, these new adjusters will always provide a quick easy to use seat belt.

The seat belt also has a removable sternum strap, and a red latch guard on the lap belt. The lap belt bolts in. The shoulder harness and crotch strap can either bolt down or wrap around a roll bar.

We got a sweet 3 row radiator from Eagle Radiator. They started out in 1978 on lower Main Street and provided the community with complete radiator service and repairs. Whether it was a small radiator repair, complete radiator rebuild, or supplying the customer with a new radiator. If the problem had to do with a radiator, Eagle Radiator was the place to take care of it.

Welcome (http://eagleradiatorandmuffler.com/)

In 1997 Eagle Radiator moved to a new location at the El Dorado "Y" 5696 Mother Lode Drive in Placerville, CA. With the new move and expansion, came the new name of Eagle Radiator and Muffler.

Now, Eagle Radiator and Muffler Inc. has branched out to meet your automotive repair needs as well. Take a look at our Services and give us a call, or just come on in.

Paint is done, looks good enough for a wheeler. The cab and fenders are sweet. The bed, well just not enough time to make a 79 single sided work horse bed cherry. Me being sick all summer and family issues just didnt leave me as much time as I would have liked to put into the body work. Still looks sweet though. :D

The seats were not hard at all. We grabbed a pair of stock seat brackets. Added some flat 2"x 1/4" plate. Welded some tabs on and reinforced it. Slides back and forth great. The seats are made with a tilt (backwards) so mounting them flat worked perfectly.

Well, I am leaving the stock steering column in this time. The ignition switches (elect part) are different.

http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae148/daveztoyotaparts/RTF%20Raffle%20truck/IMG_9353_zpseae3e5ca.jpg

So rather than cut and splice (like I see a lot) We will switch the plugs around.

http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/ae148/daveztoyotaparts/RTF%20Raffle%20truck/IMG_9352_zps017ffc0d.jpg

Remove the the wires from the old switch's plug.

I just want to say Thank you, to all who spent their hard earned cash to try and win the truck. Trail-Gear and I know that it is a shot in the dark to whether or not one might win, but with the thought that the money was going to a good cause you went for it. So from the bottom of our hearts we thank ALL of you. Keeping the trail open for our families in the future is important to us all.

To whoever wins, I hope you realize the sweat and tears that went into this truck. We hope you enjoy it and wheel it proudly. Thank you. Good luck all.! :D

we all have been wondering who it was to be.

then announced "Mike Fisher"of Georgetown is the WINNER! He was there to accept the prize and was quite surprised. The look on his face when the winner was announced was awesome.

We ran into some fuel issues towards the end of the week and lost a lot of time that should have been spent finishing the truck. Mike knows all about the things we have to finish and is quite happy with his win of a new truck. As soon as we finish everything up Mike will come to the shop to pick up his new truck and we will hit the trail for a BBQ and pics of its maiden voyage. Thanks Mike for being a super winner.
We will continue this thread with the rest of the build and wheeling pics as they happen. So stay tuned.
