Well, I am not going to say too much here because I still need to talk with the insurance company and all that, but my daily driver met the end of its life today. I am pretty bummed about it, and although I wanted a new truck, I really didnt want to part with this one. The important part, however, is that I am fine and healthy and walked away with only some airbag scrapes and burns on my right arm. I will get some better pics tomorrow. Truck is definitely a goner.

Glad you are ok Steve. Truck can easily be replaced. At least you have another set of wheels to drive in the meantime.

Glad you came out ok Steve first and foremost! keep us updated as to what happens from here. Did that have the 4.6 or 5.4 in it?

scout man
August 28th, 2012, 10:51 AM
It had the 4.6, and was already at 236,xxx. Probably not worth much except for a complete rebuild. On top of that, I think the light post hit the front of the block, so it might even be cracked. That said, I intend to part this truck out, so if there is anything that will cross to your ranger that you are interested in, let me know!

Well, I am not going to say too much here

You all are horrible at reading! I fell asleep at the wheel. Works been good to me this summer, but apparently it was too good to me. Lesson learned.

Did the grill guard make matters worse or do you think it saved you even more damage?
Glad you are all right!

scout man

I think it saved me a lot of damage. It did dent a quarter panel that otherwise would have been fine, but that doesnt matter. It took a lot of force to mangle that grill guard the way it was, which is inevitably preventing that energy from going into the rest of the rig. As it is the post hit the engine fan and clutch, with the little extra force the brush guard soaked up I think it would have pushed the engine into the firewall, and possibly towards my legs.
