Just got access, wanted to introduce myself. We are new to 4wheeling, and looking for like minded people to meet and learn from. Last year while I was unemployed, bought the 15 year old her first car, bit of a project for me to keep my sanity, a 1987 Bronco II:

Started as this, $300 beater

and now is more like this:

Full write up on the build here:

Anyway, we live in Westminster, and have really not spent any time off road with it yet except for a day trip to Rollins Pass last October and to Switzerland Trail. Still need some trail goodies before I decide to get adventurous with it, need to build a winch mount and get a locker for the rear.

Nice looking rig! Welcome to the forum.

You have any links to add to the Make and Model links in the TECh section under the Bronco II stuff, please fell free to add them. You probably have quite a bit of info to share after that piece of work.

I may not have a lot of technical details to add that I can take credit for, but can I link to the Ranger Station? they have a tech page for RBV vehicles that is incredible.

I did spend a lot of time getting to know the truck well, but have a lot to learn still. Colorado Axle and Gear did the re-gear for me, Al is the man. Remembered me from years ago when he did ring and pinion work for me on a dually I had. Couple more pics to follow...

Welcome! I saw the pic of your daughter and for a second, before I realized she was holding the wax can, I thought she was holding a cell phone! I thought "that's what my teenage daughter would do!!"

Soon, but not yet. Need to design a winch mount and buy a winch. Nothing more fun than showing up, getting stuck and having nothing to "unstuck" yourself. At some point, we plan on Metberry and Hackett gulches. Maybe once I have a locker and a winch.

I'll have to readjust to going slow over obstacles, most of what we do on two wheels is faster.

There are plenty of people without winches on the forum who go wheeling. And plenty who do who can pull you out. In any case, there won't be too much winching on this trail. Pretty tame.

Welcome.

You won't need a winch on this one! Plus, plenty of others here have winches and with 35+ rigs going - Getting stuck is not an issue!

Ok, excuse #2 then. I had to add another 1.5" of lift to the front to clear the 33's so it has not been aligned yet. It's a handful right now on the road. I'll get out there soon, just won't be this weekend.

if you do this on china wall i will be so amazed i might die of shock....... literally........ but any way once you do hackett and metberry (hopefully longwater too) tell me as i have wanted to do these trails since i got my truck but have not yet :(

Last time we were out that way, Hackett was only open to the county line, can't get all the way to the bottom. Same with Longwater. Metberry is open all the way down though. We usually get to Hackett water by going down 895 on the bikes. WOULD NOT recommend gong that route on 4 wheels.

hhhmmm might have to try and borrow my friends atv since im not a fan of motorized 2 wheeled vehicles ... maybe making a camping trip out of it ? ah wait you mean any type of 4 wheels or just the big kind?? :)

So I am slightly re-thinking coming to the anniversary run, looks like a lot of fun and a good opportunity to meet a lot of people. I see that some people are bringing dogs, if I can get the alignment handled before the weekend, any objection to 85 lbs of pure stupidity that looks like a golden retriever coming along with the wife and I?

Ha! We'll be bringing our 75 lbs of pure stupidity (and muscle) that looks like a Boxer/American Bulldog cross. Plus two more, much smaller and smarter dogs. I'm looking forward to meeting your stupid! Love those Goldens!

We have 3, an Austrailian Shepherd, Britney/Aussie mix and an English Cream golden. Bronco doesn't have enough room for them all so we may just bring the 1 if I can get things together before Saturday.

Awesome. Back at my parents house is our 11 year old Brittney, he's still as crazy as the day we got him.
