Since there are couple of new folks on the forum who have asked questions about Aisen carbs, here are the carb facts and links. I hope that these help. One of them goes through a basic rebuild and discusses common problem areas and how to fix them without tearing the whole carb down for a rebuild. This information is posted under the Toyota Make and Model links: http://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?8745-TOYOYA-INFORMATION-AND-LINKS

I really liked Ricardo's write up. Better than the Blue bass one. I stumbled across that not too long ago and added that link. Very well done, documented and detailed. Even if you have never taken apart a carb of any kind, this is so detailed that even a newbie to it stands a good chance of doing it right.

Ricardo is a member of this forum, too.

Maybe one day we can get everyone who need to work on thier carb together,

I'd be up for that. The carb in the 40 likely could use a rebuild and cleaning.

Thanks for the compliment Pete. The Aisan carbs are relatively straight forward to tear down, clean up and put back together. The two biggest keys to success are starting off with a good base (i.e. at some time in the past the carb was good and is not a frankencarb) and keeping very detailed notes and photos so that everything makes it back where it belongs. I've rebuild a few of the early FJ40 carbs, a 22R carb and would be up for a carb/tuning "work day".

I'd be down for a carb day. I got a feeling something just ain't right in there.
