Did you check the status with the ranger district? They usually don't open it until well after may.

I think that the Trail Ridge Runners open and close that trail with the forest service. Here's their repair work last year,

http://www.trr4wd.com/mtrr/mid201006.shtml

Their calendar lists June 18th as their re-opening run for MSV. That seems a little late, but my memory may be off.

What everyone else has said. These trail have a rather late opening date and I know for a fact that they are not going to be opened up April 2. Call the Boulder district FS. It is a small group and you may well talk to the ranger who is going to physically open the trail.

Generally speaking, they do try to get the trail open by the first major holiday weekday that officially starts the tourist season....

I've camped off the trail, next to the river, for the past couple years. My family loves that camping spot. I'd be down for this run when the trail opens.

Yeah it's open - and I think should still have plenty of snow.

We should simply delete this thread as there is obviously not going to be a run until these trails open which is roughly in a month, and the fact that the date for this run is now past.

Third week in June is the typical opening weekend.

I know that Memorial Day weekend is the date the park service 'would like ' to get the trail open and a lot of that is dependent on the actual amount of snow that remains on the trail. Like I said, that FS branch is pretty damn small and if you call up there, there is a pretty good chance that you will be put in touch with the FS Ranger that is going to physically open the gates.
