So a while back I saw a picture that someone had turned a 60 into a truggy (chopped behind b pillar and caged the rest) and it got me thinking: I want that.

So I think i'm gonna start planning for a 60 truggy as a dedicated trail rig.

Here's some threads that have inspired me:

Hopefully you guys can help me decide on what will be best for a trail rig (probably still licensed) but wont break the bank (relatively). I wont really have a lot of money to spend on this (full time student/part time job) and it will definitely be a work in progress for a while.

I was thinking of going to a V8 engine of some sort (350 sbc?) or something with a little better MPG than a 3F or 2F but i'm open to suggestions.

Probably would be running 37-39" tires, SOA, exocage/flatbed. Something along the lines of what the links above refer to.

To be honest, a chevy ( 350, 383, 400) or ford (351, 302) isnt really going to yield much more mileage than a 2/3F. They will offer more power, and maybe 2-3mpg more. The 4bt seems to be the way to go for the fuel economy, as there are a few on mud getting 27.5mpg with them. Its also a lot more expensive swap. Looking forward to maybe seeing on built. I like when they cut the last 1/8th off before the hatch move it up and make it a 2 door. Like so

Senior Chris and I was talking a while back about doing that to his old red rig. Cool idea I think Matt!

Yeah i'm not totally set on the Landcruiser, (although im super biased towards it :D) but I just thought it'd be a cool idea to do a SUV chop. I wouldn't mind a mini-truck or something of the sort, but I wanted something unique.
