Looking to get some used M/T's, my tires are terrible off road and on any thing but dry pavement.

I am debating between these two.
Any opinions on which ones i should go with?

MT/Rs, if they're as pictured.

If the Wranglers are good, go with them. Seems like the ones in the second link have way too much space between the blocks and absolutely no siping so driving on road in other than dry pavement conditions may kind of suck.

What Pathrat said!

My two cents: Unless you plan on having two sets of tires, get a decent set of All-Terrains.

Break your driving down into percentages:
How much street driving?
How much trail driving?

Mud tires won't be your friend when a wet, sloppy, highway starts to freeze.

Hypoid just described why I have a set of AT's for sale and sold a set of MT's, and now run just one tire type all year.

Looks like you are just down to the second ones as the first are gone already.

I think those uniroyals are really old. I cant ever remember seeing a uniroyal mud tire. I have been doing this for over 10 years now. Check the dot number and see what the date code is. Alot and almost all places wont mount tires that are older than 5 years. Oh and mud tires and all terrains if properly maintained wont really see much different in mileage and fuel mileage. I have see mt's last 25k and i have seen them last 70k. Same with at tires.

May I suggest you look into Treadwrights?

Still happy with them, Kyle? Have you had them off-road yet? We haven't had a report in a while. :)

Thrilled with them. Still haven't been offroad, aside from mud (where they did a great job). Need to get my linkage fixed and time away from work to do that and wheel. I'll post a little something into the review thread.

Has anyone had experience with Big O A/T, or M/T, and Hankook Dyna Pro ATM's?
Does anyone know the cheapest place to find some Duratracs in 265/75/16?

I have run Big Os and have liked them. PM Nick (GM4x4Lover and see if he can do a deal for you. He works there.

My friend Bren has been running the Hankook (sp?) on his FJ 80 for almost 2 years and has liked them a lot. They have done everything he has asked them to do and he puts some serious on and off road miles on them.

Discount Tire is probably your best bet for tires if you don't know someone in the biz. They will meet or beat anyone's advertised price on tires in Colorado. They won't necessarily do the same for an out of town outfit, but they do work with you. 4Wheel Parts is also OK, but don't let them sell you Pro Comps no matter how good a deal it sounds....

I'll never use Discount Tire again, they did a really poor job for me once and had so many add-on charges it was absurd. I use Big O instead.

I like the Big O XTs or the MT/Rs.

I ran some E's in that exact size when I was stock. They were great.

I'm on Load Range E. Stiffer than C or D, so you feel things more, but it's not too bad.
If you're looking for 265/75/16, consider treadwright. Great price and great tires. You can look at my long term review for more info. Not trying to convince you one way or the other, but just giving you some cost effective options.

Here are the tread designs available for that size. The Guard Dogs like I have are available in C, D, and E Load Ranges.

I've been looking at those. But my dad is helping me with tire and he doesn't trust them, i dunno why i have only heard good things about them.

I would not be to worried about the retread concept as long as you are not driving at long periods of high-speed highway driving. When I was growing up "on the farm", my dad used retreads on different vehicles, that were not long distance travellers. I would not put them on Corvettes, etc. But, I would have no problem putting them on a pickup or a Jeep.

In all honesty, I would trust them on the highway at speed. They're essentially manufactured the same way virgin tires are. They're DOT approved and are not like old school retread. Technology has come a long way.

OK I've got it narrowed down to these tires.
Duratrac C $810 Shipped

Duratrac E for $882 Shipped

Rover MT Maxx Traction E $751 Shipped

Cant decide which i want. Has anyone run both a load C and E tire? Which would you prefer?
