I'd say grab the Kayaks and go... don't get much closer parkering than that!

It was parked on the road above, and rolled into the river. Thats the North Fork Payette River in Idaho. He certainly wasn't trying to ford that river or anything.

Link with more pictures and a description of what happened.....

Hmm...so it was parked...running with the e-brake on? Manual? Please tell me it wasn't left in gear.

Was parked running in neutral with ebrake on. rolled across the freeway, landed in the river, was pulled downstream, ended up there. Pulled it out with a tow truck a few hours later, still running.

And now the river doesn't have any fish because the exhaust was jammed under the water for a few hours.

So if Subarus don't belong in the rapids, what other vehicles do?? I kid, I kid!

What a shot though. That will make me think twice the next time I leave the car running to take a picture...

    God forbid!

Also, they should just float it down the river with the kayaks

Actually, two kayaks came off and floated down the river. They recovered one unharmed, but the other one got pretty torn up and was a write off.

That river is pretty stout difficulty wise, and high volume to boot. Its continuous high speed class IV/V for miles and miles. Come out of your boat on there, and you are in for a long, cold, swim. Better trust your buddies on that one. You can see in that picture that the dude was wearing a Dry Suit, so that indicates the severity of the run.

They are super lucky the car didn't go any further in the river, as it wouldn't have been recovered for miles if it had made it 10 feet further out. Here is some video footage of the run...
