Okay here it is. Before and after pics of Chris' "big rock chip". I had trouble with the lighting on the after pics. I would like to say this is an unusual chip in fact the first time I have ever repaired one like this.

The other 2 before and after pics are not on Chris' vehicle. It is another customer I did a few repairs for. She sent me a testimonial which is one of the one's featured on my website http://www.RoosWindshieldRepair.com She had a repair done at a "competitor's" place awhile back and I will post a pic of it up in the next post so you can see the difference in the finished product.

Here is a pic of one of my competitors repairs. As you can seen they definitely drilled into the glass to do the repair. I only drill if absolutely necessary. The repair process takes a little longer if you don't drill but the finished repair looks alot better if it is not drilled.

Another satisfied customer here! I've had two chips that started cracking (about 2-3in). Now I can't even tell where they've been. Great job, Reese! I've already called my friend and gave him your phone number. He said he'll call you when needed (Fedex vans)

Driving the Forester down to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving, then back. Might need you for a repair, I always seem to get one on that trip.

It was great meeting with you Kubo! Thanks for the tea too that hit the spot with it turning dark and getting a bit cold outside! I am glad your happy with the repairs and I appreciate you telling your friend about me! I wish I would have taken before and after pics of your damage. My camera was dead.

I guess I could have used my phone but they usually don't turn out good I have tried it before.

Guess I better go charge the battery before I forget again like last night.

Probably a dumb question roo but would the crack crossing the entire length of my windshield be able to be fixed?

I should probably let Reese answer but the answer is "no" unless he's a magic man. He id wonders to mine but it was nothing close to that.

Chris is right, the short answer is no. There are a few rules for doing crack repair.

    1. The crack cannot intersect two edges of the glass.
    2. The crack must be new to achieve good results. (preferably not exposed to precipitation or moisture because dirt will get in it)
    3. I will not do a crack repair that runs directly in front of driver's field of vision (some people might, but my preference is not to. Because more often than not you will still be able to see the crack at certain angles.
    4. I prefer not to do a crack repair over 14 inches. It is just not a good choice for the owner as anything over that gets expensive and a replacement would be the best choice.

Sorry Rob, next time give me a shout at the first sign of damage and I can keep it from spreading and requiring a replacement.

Unfortunately it is the length of the windshield, but fortunately it is along the bottom 4 inches of the window so sight imparement isnt an issue.
