I’m still planning on this, the only way I won’t make it is if we get hammered by snow in the lower elevations or if everyone else decides to bail! If that happens, I’ll be wheeling close to home I guess…..

Weather forecast isn’t scaring me away yet

Longmonts forecast on the weather channel says
80% chance of snow 1-3 inches Friday daytime and
90% chance of snow 3-5 inches Friday night
    Nothing Sat.

I'm going to go even if I barely get my tires dirty, I'm not available Sunday either. Honestly I think it might be even more fun with a little powder , but I don't intend doing anything over the top if it's to scetchy. I have run Schubarth in deeper snow then anywhere else I have wheeled in the snow, so it's always an option if there is to much snow dropped on Friday.

Let's touch base for sure on Friday Matt. Because if we do get to much snow in the city, we can always make it up north in your neck of the woods? No need to make you drive any further than we need to. You are the same distance from me and Mark then I am from the gulches.

I’ll keep in touch and keep watching forecasts. It’s been snowing on and off every day since Dec 24th up here, definitely not much wheeling up here n these conditions. I don’t think the Gulches has received much, if any snow so far. I think it would be fun with some snow so let’s keep an eye on the weather and touch base on Friday to finalize plans!

    Sounds great.
I took my Jeep for a drive down to Palmer Lake today, it feel great, nice and tight in the front end. I'll drive it some more tomorrow and check my work tomorrow evening for the weekend.

Nice! Do you have a winch David? I don’t, so hopefully you do!
Forecast for Westcreek, CO shows 3-6” starting 7pm Friday ending 7am Saturday! That should be fun to play in! Longmont shows 4-8” Friday 7pm to noon Saturday and up at my place it says 6-12” 4pm Friday to 4pm Saturday. Looks like it’ll snow more in the northern front range than down south.
We may have to push meet up a little later in case it’s slow going (which it looks like it’ll probably be).

Unfortunately this weather just isn’t cooperating with our plans. Woke up to dumping snow and crazy wind gusts this morning. I’m going to have to snow-blow just to get out of my driveway this morning….. and the “big storm” hasn’t even arrived yet! That’s tomorrow afternoon.

Forecasts are continuing to say 3-6” in Denver tomorrow evening into Saturday morning. At this point I can’t see being able to leave my house at 6am in the dark if another 6-12” drops. I will surely need to snow-blow to even have a chance to get out!
Maybe we can do something later morning, after the storm is supposed to leave the area, and depending on conditions meeting somewhere in between for at least a little wheeling…. There’s still 3-4 folks planning on going, all of whom live much closer, so this is still on but I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it….

Heres my forecast right now, looking like the North Pole at my house already 😒

I won’t cancel, I’ll leave the calendar invite up for those that still want to do this and live closer and can get there much more easily than myself! I really want to go but will put myself as a Maybe for the time being.

You guys go ahead and enjoy the day! We have a huge fire near Boulder and it son lives pretty close to the evacuation zone. It is crazy windy in the Boulder area, not sure I’ve ever experienced such violent winds. If these winds blow the snow storm past and we don’t get dumped on tomorrow thru Saturday morning, I’ll be there!

Did you decide not to go with a winch on this Jeep Matt? I hear installing a winch is a good way to destroy a Jeep, so maybe not a bad call.

I'm having fun exploring southern California trails but keeping an eye on the front range news and saw record breaking 110mph gusts down in the flats and of course the fires sadly. Hope everyone is able to stay safe through it all.

I have a front winch bumper on order, should arrive at my place in SoCal in february. Then the Jeep will have a necessary tool that my other Jeep and Ram already have.

What trails are you exploring? I’ve done a bunch of desert trails and a few Big Bear trails, busier than Colorado or Utah trails for sure but you can get out there if you really want 😎

Just the Anza Borrega area so far, I mostly took pictures of cacti because my nephew loves them. https://imgur.com/a/6dPescG I'll be heading a little north in a few days, hoping to hit a few more trails and run into a bit of snow if I'm lucky.

I’m officially out of this one! I’ve driven around the Jeep and the Powerwagon up and down the highway in the snow. The roads are terrible up here, and it’s snowing steadily. You guys go have fun, I might hit Bunce or Dry St Vrain if anyone local wants to go play in the snow.

    Happy New Years!

OK the plans is to meet at the hamburger joint (restaurant) in Sedalia at 8:00 and we will roll out from there when everyone that decides to go gets there. So far it's the 3 of us. I will keep an eye on the RSVP's in morning before I take off.
