Yeah that's good to know! I've never used the hi lift for manual winching but I've used a come-along and the only thing I don't like is how awkwardly shaped and bulky they are so its annoying to bring along. Especially now that I have a 2 door

For small jeeps - its hard to find a good mounting spot, seems like external bumper/tailgate mounts are the way to go. I had mine on my front bumper - easy and simple with a steel cj bumper, but when I added the winch, it needed a new home. So, its in my tacoma truck bed as the taco doesn't have a winch. One of these days I will fabricate a rear bumper mount for the cj.

Are you talking the hi lift? Because I preferred the come-along, felt safer, but the hi lift at least for my wrangler has mounts that replace bolts that attach doors. On my Grand I used tube mounts on the roof rack. The come along is super awkwardly shaped when folded up, just kept that in a big bag in back of Grand but don't want it around for JL

Its common courtesy to maintain distance on the trail in case someone needs room on an obstacle

Looks like dog parks are even open w/ distancing, and trails. So I think off-roading even better fits that criteria

Douglas County just issued the same. Interesting exemptions for companies and reasons for travel. An interesting read on a day like today.

This is right from the list of allowed activities on the shelter in place order, and clearly wheelin’ would qualify according to this definition (at least in groups of 4 or less)

I saw that and thought the same thing, but still couldn't get past the clause on travel, below. Then I read the exception pasted below, and realized that travelling to go wheeling is therapeutic and is "medicinal" as well as essential for good mental health.

I believe you but haven't seen it yet. Do you have a link to a reliable source? I'd just like to read what has been announced.

    Edit, I found one

I just opted out of the run on the calendar. Bummer, I was hoping to get out. I was signed up for EJS Moab, but as you already know they shut down the entire town a few weeks ago. I'm also signed up for Jeepers Jamboree on the Rubicon in July. I hope everything is clear by then.

Hey Gerald, I feel your pain! I had hotel reservations for tomorrow thru Sunday in Moab but now I’m staying home twiddling my thumbs ;(

I will probably do something nearby like Yankee, Switzerland/Gordon or something just to get out and get some fresh air.

The conditions were pretty bad yesterday, lots of snow still and deep ruts just getting to the Metberry trailhead.

The trail had even more snow, less traffic had driven on it, so we didn't push very far into it.

Big tires and lift made it fun (on Cedar Mtn road) but I would not want to take a stock 4Runner out there right now. Possible more snow Friday night also.

Everything is so uncertain with these lock downs, but I would recommend the alternate Illinois Gulch (Rainbow Falls) run again if anything close to stock is coming.

Still, I'm hoping to get something in on Saturday.

edit: Here's a vid of the 15 yro going through one of the many many puddles on Cedar Mtn Road (CR 51).

We had a blast just driving on 51 to be honest.

hmm...I was thinking about joining this one, but if there's lots of snow I'll probably just be a nuisance more than a welcome party! maybe I'll check out Yankee Hill instead.

Unfortunately I think I will have to bail too. Going to stay closer to home and go out to Yankee Hill. Without a winch mounted up yet, I don't want to be in the way if the snow is too deep.

Trying to get my junk back together after it got beat on hard on a snow recovery out in the boonies so still 50 50 whether i am going to make it or not.
