Berdoo Canyon - 2/26/20

Ran Berdoo canyon road from I10 (Indio, CA) north up a desert mountain wash into Joshua Tree National Park today with the wife! Drove the ‘18 Power Wagon and it did great! There were a few tight rocky areas that needed careful tire placement and the wife helped spot a few areas for me. This would be an easy Jeep trail but it’s about the most I want to take the RAM on as far as wheelin’

The map says that you made it! Any scrapes at the rocky section?

A couple scrapes, nothing I worried about but the wife was panicking
when I scraped..... lol.

yes, made it no problem. I would have played around more on some fun little steep sandy areas but I was just happy to have the wife along so I kept it pretty tame! The trail is rated as Moderate and the ranger looked at me when I told her I came in from Berdoo canyon and she said “in that???”. Yep, in my Ram 2500!!!! With a winch and front and rear lockers and disconnected my front sway bar for the whole thing too! Aired down to 30psi.... lol..... from my usual 65 on these 34” BFG KO2’s.

I turned the GPS tracker off once we got close to the paved road but we did continue north and then west and drove another 20 miles or so to exit the West ranger station into the town of Joshua tree..... where we had lunch at a local veggie restaurant. The actual Berdoo Canyon Road is less than 20 miles and then another 10 or so miles on the Geological self guided tour road that is basically a bumpy dirt road. Beautiful area with my beautiful wife
