    Default Utah, other than Moab?

Love Moab, but it's so busy and overpriced these days... google "moab overcrowding", it's so busy the city is even trying to scale back advertising http://www.moabsunnews.com/news/arti...e061d3a31.html.

so I'm still going to Moab (on a weekday) but hope to keep going after a day or two. What else is awesome in Utah?

Somewhat "don't know" but after watching the Matt's recovery vids I want to trek down to the SW corner.

I've been to Zion a time or two (not overly looking to return - `specially if way crowded).

    I've yet to visit Bryce.

Grand Staircase - don't know about that (should find out!).

I'm also looking to check out, maybe overnight, at Little Grand Canyon (just north of I-70). I'm thinking of making it a week loop. I'd pass through Moab and might see visiting a trail or two but might not overnight there.

Moki Dugway - There's a road - picturesque - could check that off.

Some of the gravel roads in and around Dinosaur N.M. (N/W Colo) are on my ToDo list (Google Map to one of'm).

From your "vid #2" - Tushar Tunnel looks interesting!

That's the place with the famous very steep notch climb that everyone likes to re-post videos of online, right? It always looks like a nearly vertical climb in the videos!

It is. They have a wide variety of terrain there, everything from easy to insane.

Capitol Reef is awesome. Some really scenic easy off road miles in the park. And one can easily get to the Hole in the Rock trail.

    1) I have really enjoyed time around (and behind/west of) San Raf swell and then down towards Capitol Reef. For San Raf swell, you can stay in Green River with most standard amenities and without the hassle of Moab. We often thing of the swell in two halves: the portion north of I-70 that has lots of easy 2wd dirt roads and at least one decent 4x4 trail (Black Dragon trail). Lots of petroglyphs etc as well. The section south of I70 also has lots of 2wd roads and dirt bike trails - and the slot canyon hiking is way better. Not great for hard core wheeling, but fun place to spend a few days wandering dirt roads, camping anywhere and lots of great hiking.

    2) Would also suggest the Maze district of Canyonlands NP...lots of no-one in Canyonlands NP. But bring your own supplies and some extras - its pretty much nowhere.

    3) For wheeling - Sand Hollow and the area around Hurricane/St George is on my list of places to visit with the cj. Don't know much about it - can probably contact Dixie 4wd jeep club to get more info.

    4) Another area that is pretty awesome - again I know more about it from hiking and backpacking than 4wheeling - is the Cedar Mesa Plateau and Grand Gulch areas.

We hit that last Thanksgiving, added to the 3D trail. Definitely worth the stop.

Went to Sand Hollow for the first time last summer. It's pretty awesome!

Goblin Valley is a shorter distance from Moab and pretty cool but not the most extensive trail system.

Done a lot of wheelin in Utah back in the day. I’m talkin 70s and 80s
you need to find local wheels to find the good spots but anything east of Provo up to bountiful.
LOgan to bear lake is a must do. Highway 40 from Heber to Strawberry reservoir north is all hunting property. Trails everywhere.

Yep, it's called 'The Chute' I'm pretty sure.

Myself and the brother-in-law have reservations set for a trip to Moab starting June 8 (Weekday runs), once we get around 60 days out I planned on making a post here just in case anyone else was interested.

Weekdays are good, but June can be really hot out there. Hope you have a good time.

Thanks man! I'm definitely getting one of those 'top o' the world' pics.

I had us set for a March trip but my sis said she'd rather it be warmer, so early mornings will be our friend.
